Ok, now reports are comeing in all over that TBC is going to miss its Jan 16th date, and retailers are planning to change their date numbers soon.

This goes on the fact that TBC has STILL not gone gold a measly 2 weeks from its ship date

How you plan to make 5-6 million copies in 2 weeks defys logic

Q u o t e:
Got any links to these "reports" that "are comeing in all over"?

Yeah. That'd be great. Y'know, having some evidence for the rumor being perpetuated. Call me a skeptic...

The expansion has already gone gold. We see no reason why the game isn't going to be on the shelves at the planned date.

January 16th, in case you forgot.

Q u o t e:
It's just an industry way to make your stuff sound like it's selling like hotcakes before it ever actually does.

Stop digging that hole, mate. ;) A gold release is actually a single master disc which has to be transported to the distributors, from which all other discs are copied. This disc is conventionally gold in color. Hence, going gold. At least, that is the way I've heard it.

It's got nothing to do with marketing at all.

Q u o t e:
Why anyone pays attention to it is beyond me anyways. It's a wholly worthless statistic.

It's not a statistic. It is an actual gold disc. It signifies a major milestone in a games development, which is why people tend to pay attention to it. ;)

Q u o t e:
The phrase derives from an archaic term, the "gold master" used to press vinyl (in this sense, the term does share a heritage with the music industry, but that heritage is entirely unrelated to the gold/platinum/unobtainium sales awards).

I like your explanation better, heh.

Actually I find it funny that Tseric is performing damage control on this thread, yet the warriors thread he is assigned that is -FULL- of complaints about the class he dosen't touch.

Way to go protecting those investors of Blizzard Tseric, almost had me fooled there

Hey, I just got in the office. Can I settle in? Is that ok with you?

Q u o t e:

They can make like 10+ million copies in less than a week. It doesn't defy logic. They use something called mass production. These days it's practicaly the speed of sound.

Please sir/madam,

Could you tell me more about this wondrous and marvelous advance in technology? It sounds like heaven!

Why, that's nothing! Just wait 'til you hear about how they transport the items to the four corners of the globe at lightning speed, using flying machines and horseless carriages!

We live in an age of wonders, we do. It's enough to make a man think there might be something to this whole "industrial revolution" everyone's talking about.

Simply marvelous. I was afraid to switch from the phonograph to the new fangled cd I hear mentioned but now I am greatly bolstered in my faith!
