Subject: Honor Gain Reduction- 12/12/06

Now that the Before the Storm content patch has been live for the past week, we’ve had a better opportunity to track the rate at which players are accumulating honor, and subsequently how easy it's been to obtain honor rewards. In gauging these elements, we've determined that the effort required to obtain honor rewards is more trivial than we had intended. As a result, during today's maintenance we’ve applied a hotfix that reduced the amount of honor gained by approximately 30%. This change allows the honor rewards to be obtained at rate that better reflects the item’s in-game value.

The reason that we decided to reduce the rate of honor gain rather than simply raise the honor cost of each item, is to ensure that everyone’s time and effort participating in PvP since the patch is not diminished. As this change will only affect future honor accumulation.

Why was this thread deleted and restored?

Why?

What, were you hoping that the tens of thousands of people who frequent the forums at any given time wouldn't see it?

I had to double check on some information first so pulled it briefly and put it back up.

Also, the information on the reduction of costs in the future is still correct at this point in time.

Q u o t e:
Nethaera, would you ask the developers to revisit the limit on battleground honor tokens in light of this change? Already with the new system, token gains tend to outstrip honor gains in terms of purchasing rewards, and this will only exacerbate the problem. I would personally like to see the tokens changed to have a higher stack limit so that fewer will be wasted.

Thank you.

I'll pass the word along about the concerns people have about the honor tokens. I'm not making any guarantees of anything though at this point but will be passing the word on for discussion.

"And the next line of business at Blizzard: The Burning Crusade Expansion Pack has not completely finished beta testing. Since we want to make sure that everyone is satisfied with the release and ensure the player base gets the most of the expansion.... We're going to have to delay the release of the expansion until January 2008. We apologize for the inconvenience."

It's not being delayed. Please don't attempt to start a false rumor. :(

Could you *at the very least* make the marks worth some copper or silver? I mean, I'm going to have like a million of these pieces of trash sitting around unused now. The block was the honor before, now it's even worse.

Seriously, how could Blizzard *not* see this coming? It never ceases to amaze me how much foresight they lack.

*Please don't avoid the profanity filter. Thanks- Nethaera
