Subject: Talent point refunds and respec fees in BC

I assume that with the expansion everybody gets a talent point refund to redo our talents.

My question is this, do the talent respec fees get reset to 1 gold when the expasion hits? I'd imagine that most people would want to try a couple of different specs without having to pay 50 gold a shot

Is that a mango? Stupendous!

The respecs will be free the first time you enter the game at the release of the Burning Crusade, but after that the costs are the same and will be on the same rate of decay and will not have their costs reset.

I know people have been asking if this would be a possibility but we have decided not to do a complete reset. We would like to continue to support the idea that respecs should be very carefully thought out strategic decisions.

Q u o t e:
Some time ago, it was posted that the monthly respec cost reductions could not bring a player's respec cost below 15 or 10 gold (I can't remember which), but that it was a known issue and was being looked into.
Has this issue been addressed? If so, what was the result?

I'll have to ask about this. I don't know if anything was decided.

Q u o t e:

Understand your argument, but isn't the reason respecs start at 1gp, and slowly work upward, is to allow players a little bit of trial and error as they first pick talents, make mistakes, and try again?

While I understand the need at current to keep max costs to avoid flopping talents daily, or per encounter, it would seem evident, to me at least, that releasing a mass of untried and untested new talents, as well as a wider field of choice, starting from scratch with BC makes the same sense as starting from scratch the first time with the original game.

Well for one, many players will get a chance to test and try these talents, spells and abilities in the beta. For another, most players that have been around awhile are going to be pretty good at figuring out what is really going to work for them rather quickly. They also are more likely to be able to minimize any respeccing they do because when they see the numbers they are going to realize just what combo is going to work best for them. I'd also like to think that players are going to be sharing their ideas and specs pretty freely which will in turn help those that are less experienced avoid a few pitfalls.

So perhaps I'm just dangerously crediting our playersof being pretty darn smart and game saavy to believe that respeccing is going to be such a terribly hard time. I think that in actuality what people are complaining about isn't that they can't figure out how to spec themselves on a mechanics level but they don't know precisely WHAT they want to spec in for the fun of it and are caught up in the swirling vortex of possibility. That's not a bad place to be no matter the cost.

You're all doing the Marie Antoinette thing because you've been watching the previews for the movie haven't you? ;)

I'm not saying everyone will get in the beta but I have a feeling that theorycraft will be well tested in it and the opinions based on experience are going to be readily available all over the net pretty quickly. Yes, I know nothing is the same as first-hand experience but people are not going to be resourceless or clueless about what they will have the ability to do with their talent specs.
