Subject: Blizzcast....another failed project?

I was wondering why it's been 3 months since the last one. Does Blizzard think it was a bad way to communicate between developer and community? Any insight will help

A third one is in the works. We just had some unforeseen delays we had to work out. We definitely want to make these more regular releases, however, they depend heavily on getting many people and resources together.

No offense Neth (probably because you're not the one making these podcasts :P) but most podcasts come out on a weekly basis. The fact that it has been so long, I do believe, is a failure, whether there were more important things to do or not.

I believe Blizzard had good intentions, but Podcasts do take a lot of time and dedication. Perhaps hiring a specific team to make these might be a good option.

On a side note, I think I'd make a good hire for this team!

I'm a part of the BlizzCast process (you can hear me in the second one). We have never stated this would be weekly, though we would like to be consistent on monthly releases. We've only released two BlizzCasts so far and we are still nailing down a process that works best for us. I personally listen to many podcasts and think they are great, but they definitely work within different constraints than we do.

We're doing what we can to get these out to you and hoping we can just keep improving with every release of it.

I <3 Neth, so I don't want this to come across as hurtful, but in the one podcast I listened to it was very obvious that you were reading a script when asking the questions. I know you're going to have prepared questions, but it just dampens the show when it seems so prepared. In addition the answers seems too scripted too. Again, I know the interviewees are going to be prepared, but they just seemed a little bit too prepared.

Perhaps, a little less preparedness would be a good thing? I'd really just like to hear some top Blizzard people talking about the game to each other, without any clear talking points that they want to push!

We don't mind constructive criticism. I'd like to think that we've already begun improving, and hope you'll hear it in the next BlizzCasts. ;) Keep in mind, this is something we haven't done before and I personally have never done podcasts. I'm used to working in text and in live free-flow sort of events. We're adjusting to the medium and only anticipate getting more comfortable with it as we do it more.

There's always something to talk about. And I'd rather have a weekly podcast with 1 segment or a biweekly one with 2, than one every 4 months with a bunch of segments.

The deeper problem is just typical Blizz failure to communicate with the community cause they're more worried about everyone who would %*!@@ & whine to no end if something changes from the info they released, than they are about the people who are grateful to be informed about the process and realize that things change along the way.

If you think lack of things to talk about is an issue, that seems a bit myopic to me.

We have plenty of things to talk about and more things about the company we'd like to highlight for people, but these things also take a good amount of production time. We're working on that, however.

Feedback noted. ;)

Just admit you want to hear more of Bornakk's dulcet tones and get it over with.
