Honor is not being reset. You're in the game now. Start plotting the demise of your enemies for fun and profit!

Q u o t e:

30 days from now, when honor is reset, we can hear again how CMs only work with the information at hand and in no way shape or form is what they say ever supposed to be taken seriously.

Must we start this all again today? This is the nature of the beast called MMORPG. Things change much as the tides change; soil, is rubbed away by water, wind slowly cuts into earth. What once was an orchard becomes a condominium. Would you hold the trees accountable for not being there tommorrow when you knew it was always a possibility?
We are changeable chameleons and we wouldn't be playing MMORPGs if we wanted everything to always be the same.

We inform based on the information we have and you all are well forwarned that we could change that information based on changes implemented or to be implemented to the game.

Be like a leaf on the wind and just ride the breeze for a bit. It won't hurt I swear! If it changes direction, ride with it a bit and see what new adventures it will bring you.

*FYI- I am not a he. While it doesn't really matter what gender sits behind this keyboard, it sometimes is a touch annoying that people assume.

Things will settle down in just a bit really. Large patches tend to shake things up and expansions even more so for obvious reasons. We do what we can to keep getting the word out as much as we can. Things get buried fairly easy on the forums and the problem with stickies is that people start to ignore them if we load up on them.

As for the gender issue- I've been around a long while and there are a lot more females behind the scenes than people realize but I appreciate the support. :)

Also for the comment about January 16th being "vaporware", I was around when that term was first coined and I assure you, the release date and the expansion are not vaporware. The date is set and the expansion is coming. Are you prepared? lol

Q u o t e:

It's the only way to get you community managers to post in PvP threads. I wasn't around when vaporware was coined. It just seems all these pushes from Blizzard are reactive instead of proactive. Me, personally? I do not have skin thick enough for your job. I could imagine the first time a dev gave me information to present on the boards that I didn't agree with " Are you flippin high? I'll get roasted by the player base." The rise and fall of Noce's community manager experience.

I've posted on PvP threads before. Unfortunately I don't get to everything I want to throughout the day or have any specific answers that people are wanting to hear.

If it seems something is reactive rather than proactive, it's often because we're already thinking along the same lines as people on the forums and working on something internally. Then what happens is someone posts 'hey they should do x' not knowing that we are already planning 'x' and jumping through all the hoops we need to.

Of course, there are times when the PTR just isn't enough to give us the best view of how players are going to react to something.

What happened with honor wasn't JUST about the hardcore playing the battlegrounds night and day but about EVERYONE doing it. At that point you have to think, "Wow! It's awesome everyone wants to do this but it's just all going by way too fast." That's when we need to start making adjustments even when they are adjustments that might not make everyone happy. There are long term issues to take into account and we'd like people to have goals to make that aren't over too fast.

Have you ever bought a game that you just couldn't wait to play and heard so many good reviews about? Then you get it home and you start to play and realize that just four hours later you're done and there is nothing more to beat? What happens then? You stop playing it right? The games we tend to love the most are the ones we can keep playing and keep striving toward goals in. Mind you, they need to be attainable goals, and we've changed the honor system just for that reason. The rewards are that much more attainable to everyone now that there is no decay of honor. If someone wants to work toward an item over months or even take a year, they can and they don't have to worry that everything they did the month before is worthless. For those that want to get the items faster, that option is still there as well and we're not going to stop them from doing so.

Games are meant to be played for fun and part of that fun is being able to get a time value out of it. MMORPGs are meant to be played long term because it's what people expect. It's what also keeps guilds together and friends returning night after night to spend time with each other. We've been doing what we can to maintain a balance that no one will ever agree on between too much time and not enough time. Maybe some day we'll hit that 'perfect' number but with so many people and opinions, that day will be a long time coming.

Let's not have anymore flaming in the thread please. I'm fine with people asking questions and debating but I have never found the bashing of Blizzard supporters or dissenters to be that cool. Discuss ideas all you like but angst doesn't need to live in this thread in this way.

Q u o t e:

Dear Nethaera,

Thanks for a cogent explanation. I have a questions that I think are rational and fair:

1) Is Blizzard going to continue to monitor the acquisition rate of honor?
2) Have the devs considered that activity might have been greatly exaggerated during the first week given the excitement? Even people going at a fast clip who face long queues (read: alliance) might find 6+ hours of pvp a day a bit much after an initial period.
3) Are there any possibilities of changing the knob on honor adjustment? (I guess this is another version of question 1, so I'll stop)
4) Do you like "The Hollow Men" or "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock" better?

Thanks for responding to community concerns. ~A.

1. We always keep an eye on these things.

2. This is always a consideration and should there be evidence at some point that says another adjustment is necessary, we'll consider that too.

3. Same as 1

4. The Hollow Men
