Despite diogritors post earlier in the weekend the Error 132, AMD athlon/duron bug is not fixed.
I, and several other still receive the bug when trying to open the PTR client so we can log in and play.
If there is a fix out does anyone know where i could get it?
And if there isn't, blues do you have any ETA at all on when the fix will come?

A module snuck into the PTR build that had SSE code generation turned on. Of course, SSE suppport was not added to AMD chips until the Athlon XP. We've since corrected this issue. The current PTR (build 6983) should have fixed it.

Mind you, the crash that was fixed is the one that states: ILLEGAL_INSTRUCTION. If your crash doesn't have this message, then you are seeing a different crash.

If you are bypassing the WoW launcher, then you will be unable to patch because of this bug. Run the game through the launcher, and you will be patched up and all should be well.

That's the right error, but it's from the previous build. The current build number is 6983, your error file says 6932. Is it still happening to you in 6983?

If you run the game through the launcher, which is the normal way to run the game (Launcher.exe in your World of Warcraft folder), the launcher will patch your WoW.exe to the latest version.

Khalnayak, Mitchell, Aleron and Raziuer: your crashes are not related to this thread. The important piece of information to look for is the key word ILLEGAL_INSTRUCTION. You are all experiencing different access violations in code unrelated the the Athlon/Duron specific issue. So far, it looks as though no one is still experiencing the illegal instruction crash on the current build. Those of you who are still seeing it appear to have failed to patch up.

OK guys, I did some digging, and evidently, the PTR is handled somewhat differently than the normal game. Currently, the launcher does not handle patching for the PTR client. The leaves you Athlon Thunderbird and Duron users up a creek without a paddle. I alerted the appropriate people, and a solution is in the works. Until then, hang tight, play the normal game, and look for an update on this forum.

It has indeed been fixed. However, there is currently no way for Athlon/Duron users to patch up to the new version, because the patcher requires that you can run the game. This is only the case for the PTR client. The normal client patches via the launcher, which is a separate application. The PTR will work this way soon as well, but you guys got nailed just at the perfect time where that hadn't yet been set up.

You can indeed. I don't know why that didn't occur to me right away. If you are willing to do so, the current build is fixed. In the mean time, we are also working on a way to patch you guys up.

I go to the site and try to download it again, but it still patches to the old build.
I have been informed of as much. It will always try to patch you up from the base version, which is broken. we are working on a "correct" fix which will allow you to run the PTR client from the launcher. This will let you patch up via the launcher, just like the normal game does. This should get us by the problem. Stay tuned.

The comprehensive fix for this will have to wait a few days due to it afflicting the base version at launch time. If it was something that just crashed in-gameplay we could still get a patch to ship out, but because it affects the app right at launch that option will not fly. We have a strategy for getting the affected systems back into PTR activity but it will likely not happen this week.

I researched the new crash logs you all provided. It appears that one of our 3rd party libraries was compiled with SIMD code generation. SIMD instructions are not supported on AMD processors before the Athlon XP. We have contacted the library's developer to make the necessary fix. In the meantime, we have a work-around in the works.
Meanwhile, I want to reiterate that if your crash log does not contain the words ILLEGAL_INSTRUCTION, your error is different from the one being discussed here on this thread. I see a few posts with ACCESS_VIOLATION errors. These errors are not related to the topic of this thread.

I am told that as of 5 minutes ago, a build should be up that properly addresses the ILLEGAL_INSTRUCTION issue for all Athlon Thunderbird and Duron Spitfire users. Please let us know if it continues to happen.

Seriously Blizzard - do you not have even a single Athlon based system in your test lab?
I don't know how much more clear I can make this. If your error file doesn't say ILLEGAL_INSTRUCTION, then your error is unrelated to the Athlon/Duron SSE issue (the topic of this thread). Your error clearly states ACCESS_VIOLATION, which is a completely unrelated class of error. It has nothing to do with whether you're running on an Athlon or not. In your case, you happen to be experiencing one of the known crashes in the UI code.
