When patch version 1.8 releases Soul Link will be a spell you cast on your pet which gives an aura to both you and the pet. This aura increases all damage caused by you and your pet by 3% and splits 30% of all damage taken by the caster to the pet. The aura will last as long as the pet is active. Some distinctions of note:
The aura is centered on the pet. Therefore, to purge it, the pet must be targeted, not the player. This splits attention of attackers between the warlock and the pet.
The damage bonus of 3% is designed to provide more use in a PvE context, which it may have lacked before. Harnessing of Fel-energies allows for increased power to all attacks ;)
While the 50% split aided in a 1v1 or Dueling capacity, it had less of an effect in group PvP. The current adjustments to 30% were made to make it more viable in group PvP (BGs)
