Well I've been reading the forums lately, and noticed that many warlocks are nervous about their role in raids, being out DPSed, etc. etc. Some good ideas are out there, along with some very bad ones.
A main problem with not having the need for warlocks in a raid is because if you were, to say, have 4, then there would be a total of 8 minumun debuff slots being taken up. That's half of the raids debuff slots being taken up by 4 players.
Curses = 4
Corruption = 4
Any other DoTs (siphon life, immolate)
Here's my idea: Have the warlock DoTs not count toward the debuff limit. For instance (using the previous example), there could be 16 debuffs upon the target, with an additional 4+ from the warlocks. Maybe have the curses use a debuff slot, but the non-curses not use up one.
Just throwing ideas around.

Q u o t e: Logically, you need to have your head examined.
Is there a limit to how many players can melee a mob at one time? No.
Is there a limit to how many players can dps a mob down with direct damage? No.
Is there a limit to how many WARLOCKS can dps a mob down with dots? Yes.
Why is the 3rd situation different? There is no logical reason.
Actually, a starting logical response would be that your first two examples are general and your last one is specific. You are giving equal comparison to things which are not equal.
"Is there a limit to how many players can dps a mob down with dots? yes."
This would be more in line with the previous examples. Then the reason for this becomes a little more refined.
Passive damage dealing should face more limitations than active damage dealing or direct damage. While warlocks are more capable of DoT damage as a class, it is not their sole providence and this limitation does not affect them alone, but the raid as a whole.
Yes, debuff management is something we are putting more stress on with the debuff priority system. Controllable DoTs can be reapplied, therefore decisions can be made within the raid.
However, the talk I've seen lately deals with the marginalization of the class, which is somewhat misleading. The situations described are rather particular and depend a good deal on player choices, among other factors.
Now, I can see why bleeding-edge content players see this as an issue, but the situations in which this marginalization is actually coming into play are more from decisions of min/maxing raid leaders, not of the class as a whole.[ post edited by Tseric ]
The path of least resistance tempts all ramblers.
