Since mages are going to get the ability to be invisible when they get their talent review, I think that Rogues should be given a blink like ability. This would give Rogues a way to prevent being kited, which I think we all can agree would help out the class as a whole. One of the biggest problems is when your sprint is on cool down, and you are being kited by a hunter mage or even warlock. Yes, a rogue may be able to choose his opponents, but we all know that other classes can get the jump on a rogue too. For instance, hunters, who can flare us out of stealth, and then trap us, get to range, and then kill us from 41 yards away.
A rogue only has a few ways to catch up an
opponent. One which is sprint, which is on a 5 minute cool down. The other is crippling poison, which requires you to attack the target, can be resisted, and it even isn't guaranteed that it will land.
It would also fit the rogue class well. Why would a class that is all about agility not be able to catch people easily? If a warrior wearing plate armor can intercept a person, why cant a rogue, who is wearing relatively lighter leather armor do the same? You would figure we would be able to move fast if we want to burn the energy to do it…
My proposal is that the ability "Ghostly Strike"
Ghostly Strike
5 yd range 50 Energy
Instant
A strike that deals 125% weapon damage and increases your chance to dodge by 15% for 7 sec. Awards 1 combo point.
Be changed into this…
Ghostly Strike
6-30 yd range 50 Energy
Instant 1 Minute cool down
A strike in which you turn to your target, and attack for 125% weapon damage and increases your chance to dodge by 5% for 7 seconds. If you have no target, you will sprint 20 yards forward, unless there is something in your way.
There would also be a talent "Improved Ghostly Strike", which would be a 2 Point talent.
1pt -- Increases your chance to dodge with ghostly strike to a 7% bonus for 7 seconds and gives you a 50% chance to gain a combo point
2pt - Increases your chance to dodge with ghostly strike to a 10% bonus for 7 seconds and gives you a 100% chance to gain a combo point
This talent would be balanced due to how easy a rogue can be kited. Just ask any good hunter or mage. If anyone gets the jump on you, they can easily kite you, unless your one cool down is up. Even then, you may not get to the person before sprint runs out.
It would give Rogues a way to even the odds when being kited. Even then, it is on a one minute cool down, so if you mess up, the person can keep kiting you.
This talent would NOT stun or have an effect similar to change or intercept.
It would just allow a rogue a chance to apply
crippling poison to the target, and prevent themselves from getting kited.

Q u o t e: Since mages are going to get the ability to be invisible when they get their talent review, I think that Rogues should be given a blink like ability.
Where did you hear that? I'm all for the discussion of improvements, but if you're going to base it off of an assumption of what other classes may or may not be receiving please state it as such.

Q u o t e: No better time than the mage review was probably his assumption.
I definitely know the quote and the intent to reintroduce invisibility some way, shape, or form. An assumption is still being made by the OP as to when it will be though. I didn't mean to break up the thread, I just wanted to stop the spread of a potential rumor.[ post edited by Drysc ]
