I. Introduction

Armed with words of pain and prayers of healing, the Priests of Azeroth stand alone as pure casters capable of portioning out both life and death. These acolytes of the primal gods support their nations during crisis. And these are dire times.

Priests are famously recognized as masters of healing. Signature capabilities are the fast-casting Flash Heal, the large and efficient Greater heal, a heal-over-time Renew, and an instant damage-absorbing Shield. Offensively, Priests can dish out respectable Holy or Shadow-based damage. Holy spells provide burst damage which cannot be mitigated by resistance stats. Shadow tends toward sustained damage with utility: snaring, stunning, causing weakness to Shadow, and even healing party members for a percentage of damage delt.

Rigorous spiritual training cultivates tough minds within the priesthood. This force of will is expressed by strengthening allies while dominating foes. Properly focused priests enjoy increased physical or spell damage mitigation, recovery from critical wounds, reduced threat generation, resistance to interruption, or even the determination to continue healing after being physically destroyed. Allies may enjoy increased stamina, spirit, resistance to shadow, and relief from disease and magical afflictions. The malevolent will of a Priest can overshadow lesser minds to the point of total control for a short amount of time. Depending on the need for subtlety, a Priest may Soothe a humanoid into not noticing nearby danger or belt out a fear-inducing Pyschic Scream. Finally, enemy casters can be forced into immediate Silence.

In balance to these strengths, Priests must wisely manage mana or lose all effectiveness. Nor do Priests hold up long under attack from multiple foes. While Priests do much to protect their group, that group must also protect their Priest.

The basics are sketched. Continue for advanced studies.
