Subject: Priest Report
Below is the information I gathered from my meeting with the development team. Please take your time to read the information below and discuss your thoughts in a civil manner. I will continue to bring up issues as they arise but there is not another big Priest meeting planned like this in the immediate future.

Without further ado, I present to you my notes from the meeting I had with the developers.

The few, the proud, the Holy?
Many of you have voiced concerns pertaining to the status of the Holy Tree. These concerns are often aimed towards the end spell, Holy Nova. The latest patch brought about a big change to this spell. Some of the complaints I have seen is that the spell is worthless for only healing 400 hit points every one minute. The cool down of the spell will be cut in half to 30 seconds. Holy Nova not only heals your party members now, it also causes some free damage to creatures around you. This spell is also more mana efficient healing wise than Prayer of Healing. For Prayer of Healing you will need a minimum of 3 targets for the mana to heal ratio to be at maximum effectiveness, with Holy Nova you need only 2 targets.

Medic!
With the Honor system released and Battlegrounds just around the corner, I have read a lot of posts expressing concern that Priests will be priority number 1 for the enemy. Luckily, Priests are the toughest of the "soft targets". With Inner Fire, Priests can effectively double their armor and be on par with Rogues. If an opponent does get within melee range, Priests can cast Psychic Scream to send them running. That coupled with Power Word: Shield, Renew, and Heal spells and Priests are one tough cookie to bring down!

We are going to be keeping a very close eye on PvP as a whole, though. If the development team feels that one class is being targeted first and that class has no chance to survive they will make some changes. Until then, the Priest has a good chance of surviving.

In Trinket we trust
The introduction of the trinket that allows players to become immune to Fear has generated a lot of ill will. The trinket allows some players to dispel fear effects once every five minutes. Priests can cast Psychic Scream a lot more often than that, even more so if they spec out their talents right. Another thing to keep in mind is that not all classes can use this trinket, and of the classes that can use it not everyone will. There are a lot of really cool trinkets available so this will not be the only trinket you will see.

OOM!
Mana regeneration is another top issue among Priests. The development team is keeping very close tabs on all caster classes and how they regenerate mana. With this last patch the mana regeneration stops at the end of the spell casting instead of the beginning.

Overall the system is very close to how they want it to be. Ultimately they would like there to be a balance between Spirit and Intellect gear. At this time they do not feel a dramatic change to the system is necessary.

Critical Hit!
To settle a cause of confusion, + to Crit % Gear should be affecting Heal spells as well as damage spells. The only reason it wouldn't be active is if the item description specifically says it isn't.

A Dwarf, a Troll, and a Human walk into a bar…
Balancing racial abilities are one of the top priorities for the developers when it comes to the Priest class. At this time all they were able to tell me is that they will be looking into the racial abilities but were not sure when any changes would take place.
The Murloc is angered...
