This'll probably get locked, and I'm fine with that, but just wanted to toss this out there. Tseric, you told me it's pointless to try, but hey, if it makes one person think I'm happy. I'll understand totally if it's locked due to being off topic, but I just feel it really needs to be said.
Anyway...
Petitions are bad.
"If you think the nerf to arcane subtlety is bad, SIGN HERE!"
Now, suppose you're a first time mage trodding your way into the happy little forums we've got going here. You see this thread. Your first instinct, whether you admit it or not, is to say "Wow, that really sucks that it got nerfed. I'll help make a stand! All these people can't be wrong... /sign!"
Of course, the mage before him probably thought that, and the mage before him... and the one before him...
I'm sure as hell not going to say my own thoughts on whether it's a nerf or not, as that's not the point of this post. The point is that people's minds are getting made up before they even get a chance to look for themselves, and most don't bother to fight it.
Sure, a lot of people have a legitimate gripe with what's going on here. That's totally fine, and feedback is encouraged.
A lot of people say "OMFG Y DONT BLUE REPLIEZ TO INTELLIGTEN POSTS? HUR HUR!" They do, I've seen it myself many times. But a lot of people spout this off as fact for the same reason people sign petitions. Other people said so, so it has to be true, right?

There's a totally textbook example. Someone says "Hey, here's some things I like, here are some things that I think need changing." She says it in a totally calm and rational manner, offering suggestions. Blue responds.

Frost Warding - This may as well be a filler talent if it wasn't for the frost/ice armor bonus. The reflection chance from frostward however...I don't see any real use of it in PvP besides frostshock, and shamans only spam earthshock on casters. ...she didn't agree. She was pointing out things that are bad and she wants changed.
Yet people still jump on her as sucking up or being a fanboy despite her disagreeing with what Blizzard is doing with the review, because, of course, to do otherwise would be going against the mob mentality brought on by things like petitions.
Let's start thinking for ourselves. No more petitions. We are free to debate and discuss as we see fit, and our voices do not go unheard. Perhaps sometimes unheeded, but not unheard.
I myself start slipping into the "OMG mages sux roll hunter they get mail and pet and more hps LOL" mentality sometimes, then I realize it's because I'm starting to get sucked into the herd here. Then I start thinking for myself and realize there's a lot more to the story.
Stop letting others think for you. Stop petitions and all that junk. Always look for the other side of the story with an open mind, or you'll end up flaming people that disagree with Blizzard because they're "sucking up".

I like the fact that you cite examples. Your point, unfortunately, is something I am all too familiar with. When the focus of the forums are directed at you, you see much more than if you just bounce from thread to thread as an observer.
