Subject: Tseric post about mage review, details inside

Q u o t e:
Q u o t e:
Will mages still be represented in the review as much as the other classes were?

I don't know how to accurately measure this, but...yes.

Q u o t e:
Is our review well underway?

I would say even more than that.

Q u o t e:
Is the joint review with the shamans happening because the mage review is well underway?

Exactly. The mage review was actually well underway prior to the release of 1.10.

Q u o t e:
If so, how come we haven't heard anything?

Because some elements continue to undergo tweaking, so nothing is absolute. The majority of the changes are good to go, but details here and there are being fine-tuned. Also, there are other broader considerations for the release of the talent changes which will be discussed in the near future, but not right now. I am mum until certain things take place and we can begin releasing information.

I realize you don't want to wait, but 1.11 is a ways off, so we aren't exactly pressed for time.

As for the rest of your comments, I realize things have been slower as of late. I often find myself doing more reading than posting due to volume and time available. When things slow down after E3, I look to make a more regular circuit of class forums.

Just in case you hadnt read it yet, figured id be helpful.

Q u o t e:
Am I the only one that finds it funny you have to go to General forums to get a post by Tseric about mages?

Probably not :P

I know everyone's been chomping at the bit and if I had my way I would be spouting what I know this moment. However, I am a servant of both the company and the player and my will is not law. This review seems different because of a couple points.

  • The development of mage changes has gone quicker than planned, but the development cycle remains the same. The release of the patch is not moved forward due to other content in the patch. Yes, much headway was made on the changes, which now gives the devs time to go over smaller considerations and give fine tuning of parts which could use it. More time for polish. However, this creates a larger gap between when most of the work is done and the time for release. Other talent reviews have been more compressed in terms of the span of time between last patch and PTR. This is also why shaman are getting some dev attention this patch, as well. With the mage changes in such a good place ahead of schedule, there is room to move on these without impuning on your review.

  • This patch release is being handled a little differently than previous patches and/or reviews. There are other exclusive considerations which determine the timing of this informations release. It's a PR thing and I am playing along with events as they are laid out for me ;)

  • When it comes, it will probably hit you all at once. I know you'd like some tid-bits now, but it would be better to see the talent changes in their full glory than breadcrumbs dropped over weeks. Because we still have some time to go until the PTRs, I don't want to see people getting worked up and tapping their feet. "Tseric, when are the damn PTRs coming up! I wanna test this junk!".

Lastly, my lack of responses here does not mean a lack of eyes on the boards. On more than one occasion have I stopped in on the devs to see them looking over this forum particularly. Understand, there is no possible way for me to acknowledge each individual concern, so that should never be the driving factor for having a discussion here. Let's face it, sometimes me intruding on a good conversation just complicates matters. I'm good like that :P

Try to look at it from the perspective of Deus Absconditus. Virtue does not exist for the sake of acknowledgement. Your contribution to the boards should stand on its own merit, not because it deserves a response.

But, hey, I'll try to respond more anyways ;)

    Q u o t e:
He said 1.11 is still a "long ways off." This should be a signal to people to stop complaining and stop pulling the arewethereyet schpiel for at least 2-3 more months.

Well, I wouldn't say it's that far off, but that's not a totally inaccurate translation, heh.
