I am a community representative. In that, I read topics on these forums, collect feedback and discuss with the players and the designers. Should certain issues or concerns arise, this is one venue in which players can have a channel of communication with the design team.

Occasionally, I have to moderate posts like the one you see above. This involves locking or deleting posts and suspending players of their forum privileges. This can be temporary or permanent as the case may warrant.

P.S. Hello, /wave

Q u o t e:
Not everyone hates him, people choose to do so simply because he isn't saying what they want to hear. You'll see it happening on the priest forums right now, with regards to the racial spells. Eyonix is quickly working up a hate faction, as people are finding the changes to be less than satisfactory.

Anyone in their position, with this system of communication, is going to build up a fan club and a hate club. The fans are going to love their jokes and say they can do no wrong (see Fangtooth's fan club - <insert murloc sounds>), while the hate club will constantly pick up on their obvious mistakes and repeat them throughout their time on the boards (again for Fangtooth it was "manna" amoung other things).

In the current system, the Community Managers take feedback between the developers and the community, presenting it as they gain permission. Unfortunately, in this scenario, they only gain permission to reveal some things, which is where people start believing they are doing nothing. They can't show you their conversation logs with developers - because it may contain secret and/or sensitive data. They can't tell you every possible change the developers are considering, because people will take it as a promise and then slam them for months to come for not delivering when it was decided that the idea wasn't viable.

You just have to be careful on class forums, most of the complaints will be heated arguements after a particularly bad experience in-game. I've found if I write something in notepad, and refrain from posting it, then come back to it 4 hours later, it'll seem like either a waste of space and I'll delete it, or it'll get an overhaul and be left alone for a while longer. I think that's the best plan of attack for posting any problems you might have, as any emotion present when writing it can be edited out over time. Eventually you end up looking intelligent and level headed, even though the post started in a rage after dying to hunters in battlegrounds =P

This is one of the better player assessments of these boards that I have ever seen. Good advice, too. I should actually try practicing holding off on posting, as I tend to "shoot from the hip" a good deal.
