Tessera seems to have dissolved the Mage Union.
I thought I might look into it, and post some of my own observations. I'm including some quotes from other threads, as well as direct quotes from Tessera and Tseric.
This is a sad situation on all sides, but after reading through everything I could find, I'm forced to side with Tessera. Here's why -
Q u o t e:
Nonetheless, if anyone did indeed make a direct comparison between Hitler and Tess; shame on you. What a monstrous, terrible thing to say.
Here is the comment, from Dayne of Kargath:
Q u o t e:
Pom, I understand what you're trying to do, and I know you think
you're doing what's right. But right now you're playing Goebbels to
Tess's Hitler.
That's a revolting thing to say to anyone. Why this person wasn't banned for that comment is a mystery. Comments like that one make it clear that Tessera was probably right about Kargath.
Q u o t e:
What constructive posts? All they were, were excercises in using 200whatever members as a credibility rating.
We must be talking about two different people, then. I took a look at her website and that Mage Union one also. Tess posted quite a few interesting articles and polls. Maybe nobody read them?
Q u o t e:
"I got blizzard in our forums in the first place"
Haha what a load of crap, Tess did nothing for us except maybe DRIVE THEM OUT. Tseric came in to post a while ago one day, and hes been posting on and off since then.
That's not true at all. Read the exact quote from Tseric when he talked directly to Tess:
Q u o t e:
1. Tessera, you may be... | 11/10/2005 10:18:15 AM EST
...on to something with that Mage Union thing of yours.
I know that the origin of the concept had a bad misunderstanding at the start. We construed it as an attempt at a protest, similar to precedents that had been set. This is/was obviously not your intention, but rather to strike to demonstrate how a lack of mages would effect the game. Let it be known now that that event was the beginning of my presence on this forum.
I think Tessera was directly responsible for Tseric's first appearances. That quote is proof. I also think Tseric was driven out by this community, not by Tess.
Q u o t e:
Um yeah. She thinks pretty highly of herself doesn't she? I hardly think that Blizzard stood up and took notice because of Tess, though she's welcome to delude herself if she'd like.
See the quote above yours.
Q u o t e:
The thanksgiving celebration is still going on. That wasn't a mage union event. Be there, or be square!
This is correct, and Tess even posted a notice on the Mage Union site and denied having any involvement in the Thanksgiving party. He also said:
Q u o t e:
I would like to make something clear:
The Mage Union does not now, nor have we ever,
suggested nor condoned any in-game activities
which violate the EULA. this includes attempts
to crash servers, or otherwise grief other
players and/or Blizzard Entertainment.
I found that in this post-
http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/mage_union/message/357
It seems clear to me that Tessera was not instructing people to crash servers. That was someone else's plan. It's also clear that while Tess thinks it's a fun idea, she made it very clear that the server crash is not a Mage Union event and that the union does not condone it.
Q u o t e:
And finally To Tessera
After reading your, hopefully, sign off message I truly feel insulted and used. Pomegranate and myself tried to promote the Mage Union for the positive benefits it could bring about. Remember it was you not any outside influences that killed the Mage Union.
I wasn't a member of the union, but I supported it. I disagree with your views on this. From what I can gather, Tess worked hard for people who didn't support either Tessera or the union. I would have quit, too. It's not worth the aggravation of busting your butt for jerkwads who trash you.
Q u o t e:
I consider myself a proud member of the mage union. I appreciate, and respect what Tess stood for. I might not always have agreed with the routes taken, but the ends Tess wanted i think are something almost all of us could agree on.
After reading through all of the above material, I'd have to agree with you. I didn't join the Mage Union, but I did support what you all stood for. I'm sorry to see it go.
My conclusion: Tessera is better off where she is, and we mages of WoW are a lot poorer for driving her out and losing her.

As my 2cp...
Attributing praise or blame to any one person on these forums is more often than not an inaccurate testament of the truth. When I came to this forum it was due to a personal decision I made due to circumstances as they appeared at the time. To say that one person "got the attention for the mages" is an oversimplification.
You folks don't need a martyr, nor should you seek one.
Starin' you down, creepy jackalope eye...
