So, still trying to get it to work without xml files. No luck really. It tries its just... not done well.
It seems that the order which it loads the files from the toc is pretty random. I have an addon with two files, one of which is the localization and the other is functions. The localization needs to be called first.
Thinking logically (silly me) I put it first before the other file. That didn't work; I got an error when I loaded it as it tried to find a variable for an index that didn't exist yet.
Thinking Blizz may just be backwards, I put the other file first. That didn't work either.
<Note: to test the load order I put a message to be displayed at the end of each of the two files>
Flustered, I messed around with the formating of the file calls. I tried using commas with spaces, commas without spaces, spaces only, line breaks, etc. Nothing could make that localization file load first.
Finally I put it back to how I had it originally. EXACTLY the same. And suddenly it worked. Amused (and annoyed) I reloaded the UI again to double-check my succes... and it loaded in the wrong order again!
I tried reloading multiple times... no changes to the files whatsoever... and sometimes it would do it in the right order, sometimes not.
So what the heck?
