Subject: Blue: Keyminder
As you guys are probably aware, a litle add-on called Keyminder (http://www.curse-gaming.com/mod.php?addid=1634&page=1#comment) has made it possible to bring back certain nurfed add-ons (Servitude, Autotravel, Abandon Ship, Autopotion etc). Coupled with hardware that allows to autorepeat keypresses, this brings the old add-ons back to thier former glory.

Personally, I liked those add-ons. I used them. And I sorely miss them (especially Autopotion). But I have moved on.

But some members of the community have not and are trying to push their position further. I do not agree with their stance, because I KNOW the only loser in this will be the WoW community.

Please stake a stance on these. Contact the add-on web sites and ask to have them removed. But for pity's sake, do not nurf the scripting language any further. The only thing I can see that will stop this progamatically will cripple the language into uselessness. And that will only server alienate the community further .....

.... which is exacly what the author of Keyminder wants to happen.

No, I don't actually know the designer's position on Keyminder. They know about it, but haven't made any statement. I suspect that any further statements will wait until the design doc is complete. It's something that I hope will alleviate alot of the concern on both the addon developer side and the user's side, as to what's appropriate and what's not.

While Blizzard's position for the most part has been wait and see, there are certain addons which go beyond the designers intent for the scripting API, and are not able to be stopped purely through modifying the API. The design document will hopefully clarify exactly what that intent is, so authors can feel comfortable about the work they are doing, and users can feel comfortable that the addons they are using won't go away without warning.

There will always be people pushing the system, for them, that's the fun of the game. Some will get caught, and some won't, and that's just the nature of things. For everyone else, they will enjoy a fun game experience, knowing they are playing the game the way it was designed to be played.
