Subject: Channels are not preserved in 1.6.0
The client forgets your joined channel lists after you exit. I suspect that someone forgot to actually flush the channel list to disk on quit since it's no longer saved immediately on change.

As a side note, only saving anything on quit has the annoying side effect of forcing you to exit the game after changing your configuration, or your settings will be lost if the client crashes.

Since the client isn't all that stable for many people due to various reasons (buggy drivers, bad hardware, overclocked systems, etc) I don't think that this is really that sound of an approach.

Actually, the server tells you that you've left the channels when you quit, so the client is happily removing them from your list. This will be fixed in 1.6.1.
