Forgive me if this has been asked but in searching forums and based on some responses to some of my previous posts, some macro implementations are blocked by the current TargetNearestEnemy() behavior. Its the same behavior when trying to use the Tab key to target manually.
My understanding is that repeated calls to targetnearestenemy(or tab presses) should continue targeting different mobs starting with the closest and cycling outward. This is all within some forward looking view angle and would repeat back to the beginning at some max range. This is how other games like daoc or swg seemed to work and makes sense to me.
From what I can see in wow, it just flips between a few mobs, even when there are several that are within the same range. Maybe it automatically cycles back to the nearest at some set number of mobs? I havn't done extensive testing but it would appear that at about 2-3 mobs it just starts repeating.
This makes it difficult to target things using the tab key and I resort to using the mouse. It also blocks some macros that would seem useful such as a Tab key that just targets Players for pvp etc that seem useful.
I was wondering if this is likely to be something to be fixed sometime soon?
Thanks

It actually repeats after a set amount of time. What should have been happening is that each time you tab to a new target it resets the timeout. This is fixed for 1.6.
