Subject: Can a blue please clarify?

Q u o t e:
I removed something in there accidentally that was a clarification.

You folks should be hitting more often.

Now, Dodge, Parry, and all that are tied to the Defense skill -- if the Defense of your opponent is high, you will see these more. These messages are being seen more often for two reasons:

1) There was a change made that makes ranged attacks subject to Defense (which you know), and

2) There was a change made in the reporting, just as there was for melee attacks a few patches ago. What used to be reported as a "miss" or "deflect" that was in fact a dodge or parry is now being properly reported.

Defense ratings are still being looked into, but the feeling is that they're too strong on the Test Realm last I heard. They're still investigating it.

Later the same day this post was made by caydiem:

Issue: Targets now Dodge/Parry/etc. Ranged Attacks on Test Realms -- miss rate is higher
Last Updated: 4/13/05 - 4:45PMPST
Status: NEW: This change will not reach Live realms -- it has been removed. Dodge and Parry will not apply to ranged attacks. (Note: there is a messaging change -- some Misses were being wrongly called Deflects -- so the actual "miss" word may be shown more, but the miss rate is not different)

Some of this information seems to contradict. Was just wondering which information is correct and will go through with the patch? Thanks!
