Quote From Caydiem, in response to Caydiem Confirms: Nerf Patch Finalized http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.aspx?FN=wow-hunter&T=246596&P=1
Let's not put words in my mouth, doomsay, or troll, Vio. You've been exceedingly negative and not terribly constructive in your recent posts. I understand it's due to frustration, but that does not give you leave to violate policy.
=================================================
I'd like to start by saying that I've never met Vio outside of his posts on these forums. Second, I applaud you, Caydiem, for your seemingly limitless patience with the unfair flamers, trolls, and unconstructive malcontents. From my observations, you're still in the 'Getting Feedback From Devs' phase of being our liaison, so I didn't expect any results from The List in this patch. I will not shoot the messenger. Having said that, it is my opinion, Caydiem, that Vio is owed an apology. Vio has been one of the most constructive posters on this forum. He has defended your position by saying that you are not the problem; that we should not shoot the messenger.
Vio made two of the most extensive, comprehensive, and constructive of posts on this forum. They are: Compiled Issues and Suggestions ( http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.aspx?FN=wow-hunter&T=204814&P=1 ) and Why We Are Angry ( http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.aspx?FN=wow-hunter&T=207531&P=1 ) Quite a bit of effort went into these posts, and neither received a single blue post of acknowledgement. I understand that Blue can't acknowledge every thread, but without any Blue response, I feel I must draw attention to them, being as I've no assurance that they've been read.
I was shocked to see you make this remark to Vio, whom I felt has always done an excellent job of communicating his position with honest feeling, even if it can be sassy at times. I did a search and read all posts Vio has made since 3/22 to see what he might have done to violate policy. His posts since 4/8 have indeed become a little shorter and inclined to sardonic quips conjured from frustration, but he has still in no way that I've seen shot the messenger or violated policy. I will not even bother to explore the ridiculous implication that Vio, of all people, is a troll. He has put countless hours into composing both his own thoughts and opinions, as well as compiling those of others, and has shown in the past that he can be as constructive as you are patient.
I can only imagine your frustration at trying to be our liaison. Probably like rowing a leaking boat upstream with a splintered oar while trying to nurse a teething baby: tiring, frustrating, painful, and seemingly getting nowhere. There have been hundreds of posts on this forum lately where a response like this from you would not only have been warranted and justified, but also applauded and cheered. People have been unforgivingly unconstructive, rude and childish to you. Vio has not been one of them. If his recent posts have become increasingly pessimistic or less constructive, I feel he is more within his right to do so than most. As far as I'm concerned, you have more than earned the right to unleash your frustration on ungrateful members of the hunter community, but you choose the wrong person.
I'm asking that you please take Vio's past contributions into consideration when reading his recent ones, and judge for yourself if he is owed an apology.

Part of the Code of Conduct is that non-constructive posts are considered trolling and thus against policy. I am not calling his contribution to this community into question, however, his posts today have not been in line with the policy to which he agreed. It was a warning that was logged on his account accordingly.

Again, I am not saying that he has not contributed to the community. However, I cannot make exceptions because someone has made some good posts. If you violate policy, I follow the violation tree. He received a warning as he was violating the Spamming and Trolling portion of the Code of Conduct.

No, you do not have a right to flame on these forums.
These forums are not included in your monthly fee. Forum privileges are extended to our customers with active accounts, but all posters agreed to the Code of Conduct upon first posting here, and we will take action in accordance with that policy. Being frustrated does not absolve you of that agreement.

Folks, I know it looked harsh, but in reality it was one of the more lenient things that happen here. The majority of moderation takes place behind the scenes.
It wasn't that post alone that made me give him the warning, and it is the absolute smallest of our disciplinary acts. I do take action on all violators of the Code of Conduct.
