We are currently investigating blank character lists on a couple of realms. While we look into this, it would be advisable not to create new characters, as this can only serve to complicate matters, not resolve them.

UPDATE 3:15 PM PDT - Restarts for Azgalor, Argent Dawn and Magtheridon are likely to take place in the next half-hour. Just so you are aware.

We are currently investigating blank character lists on a couple of realms. While we look into this, it would be advisable not to create new characters, as this can only serve to complicate matters, not resolve them.

UPDATE 5:31 PM PDT - The investigation of this matter is still ongoing. All database information appears to be intact, so any characters created within the window of this issue will not be permanent and do not reflect any loss of character data. This is more of an issue of client/server communication, not a matter of data loss or corruption. Will update when we know more.

UPDATE 5:50 PM PDT - We have found the root issue and are resolving the matter. The realms are being brought down to facilitate this and we will bring them up again shortly thereafter. Again, no character data has been lost.

When did I say it was fixed? The first sentence of the update doesn't really say, suggest or imply that.
There is no ETA because we are juggling a few issues at this point. I am pushing for a little priority, but all I could really do right now is say that your characters are not lost, gone or deleted. You just can't access them.
Again, when I know more, you will know more.

Nope. The database has constraints to prevent duplicate naming and the newly created characters were not really created on that realm, so they will disappear afterwards.

Flight point issue which is being hotfixed.
Pet issues for warlocks and hunters which are coming close to resolution.
Food/Water standing in EPL which is being hotfixed.
A couple of others.
It's been a busy day for everyone. ;)

Check the front page again. The realms are now down and should be down for about five minutes.
I'll go out on a limb and say this will be resolved in ten minutes.
