Subject: Blizzard Art Contest- bump mapping?
hey guys, i'm planning on entering some low poly environment art into the contest and i was wondering what your opinion was on this.
since its limited to 5000 polys, should i do anything i can possibly do with those polys to make them look better, like bump mapping, advanced raytraced lighting, reflection/refraction, etc? or should i stick with typical game environment tools, and not bump map/not use advanced lighting, etc?

thanks for any opinions.

Since this is an art contest, I would imagine anything within the guidelines (specifically the poly count) would be fine. It isn't a test of replicating an environment so much as showcasing your artistic ability, and remember that it doesn't necessarily have to be or emulate a World of Warcraft look or style. Think about how your art will be perceived, and choose the route that works best for what you're trying to do.

shine on 'til the two become one
