Subject: VANISH still gets broken by autoattack
   Including 1.12 PTR

You gain Vanish.
X hits you for 140 damage.
Your Vanish fades.

The combat log can not distinguish well between events that happen simultaneously. It will list one after the other, even though the events may coincide.

Should you use Vanish at the same time an auto-attack lands, you're going to get hit. It makes you less visible, not intangible or ethereal.

Q u o t e:
9 times out of 10, when this happens, it is NOT same time mechanism.

It is that they attack after, but your lagged servers catch up 10 seconds later, and call everything same-time.

Please see the 15+ page post that just started a few hours ago about lag across original realms. I honestly wonder if the "Bug Department" can't replicate because it doesn't experience the same ridiculous lag your player base does.

I'd buy your explanation, except for the launched spells that do this FAR too often.

According to patch 1.5, when we Vanish, the spell should fizzle. Or, hit us, and then we Vanish. How we gain Vanish, get hit by the spell, lose Vanish, are stuck in combat, and have to wait on cooldown, is beyond me. Even Olympic synchronized swimmers couldn't replicate the exact perfect "same-time" hits that are happening to rogues like 50% of the time.

Latency on the server-side does not affect the sequence in which these events are processed and that is what causes what you are seeing. The combat log really only reports the matter in a confusing way. Latency is not the root of the issue, it's how the issue is reported through combat text.

That and you have become comfortable with the functionality of Vanish for some time and now that things are working more as we wanted, it starkly contrasts with what it once was.

I can appreciate if you disagree with the functionality, but it's not broken.
