It is a static HTML page, and I don't see how it can ever change... so all the refreshes in the world won't matter. Has *anyone* at all actually gotten past the https://worldofwarcraft.com/account/character-transfer.html page in the last 3 days?
Or is it that logging in wins a lottery and the button directs you to a new page instead?
Just curious.

We have. However, there were no bells and whistles attached to them completing a character transfer. They have simply replied to threads about the PCT stating facts.
I realize this is not a transparent system and it is nigh-impossible to know when slots are available. We simply do not have a feasible way to monitor individual progress of a transfer from the player side. Additional checks and measurments would only serve to slow the whole process down, while providing inaccurate data on how much time was left until a space opened.
Paid transfers have the potential to cause extreme load on active realms and we have to minimize this by streamlining the operation as much as possible.
I will do what I can to inform you of real outages of the system, but I have no way to accurately tell you "when they'll be ready for you."

p.s. when i say you guys .. I don't mean CM's .. I mean the people who spent umpteen weeks getting this process ready for production.
Knowing that, if you could calculate it, would effectively tell you nothing, because it doesn't take into account the number of people outside of the queue, spamming refresh, waiting to get in. The moment a spot opens, the spot is filled, hence what appears to be an endless queue.

Imagine you are in rush-hour traffic and I am a reporter in one of those traffic-copters. You know you're in rush hour; I know you're in rush hour. You want some sort of concrete knowledge of how long it will take to get through rush-hour, which I can't give you.

The hold up is that there is no accident blocking traffic, it's that everybody wants to get where they're going at the same time. If everyone wasn't wanting to transfer immediately, this would not be an issue.
I would estimate another two weeks until this dies down. But that's just my guess.[ post edited by Tseric ]

Exactly. And when I tell people that a dynamically updating process to monitor the size or time of the queue would dramatically impact performance for people on live realms and generate more load, no one believes me.
