I go to work early. I come home late. I am sure many others do as well. I just want to know how I am supposed to transfer this guy when everytime i try the service is unavailable.
I am not trying to whine here at all. I am not mad. I am looking for suggestions. Would it be good to get up at 3am to try to make this happen? Does Blizzard have any info to give as to when "light" traffic times are for the transfer service?
Any suggestions would be appriciated. Also, I would like to thank Blizzard for offering this option:) I have long wanted to move this guy, my first toon ever in wow, over to my "main" server.
Mizak is alone in his forum adventures.

My personal advice would be to wait for the major influx of requests to process from the moment we make the last group of realms available for character transfer. What you're seeing now is primarily the result of so many players rushing to take advantage of a highly anticipated service the moment it's available to them. Imagine the release of a new major motion picture, and how waiting a few weeks to see it is the difference between standing in a long line, hoping to get a good seat and strolling in at your own leisure, sitting where you may.

Q u o t e: Nice analogy, but it doesn't apply here. Folks having to wait on transfers or just not being able to make it because of their work schedule, etc, are losing spots on many raid guilds that they were originally told would be there for them. However, when it's becoming more and more evident it's going to take possibly a few weeks to finally get the character transferred, these raids are closing down their spots to those who are avialable immediately.
Even if I do go to a movie on opening day, and end up in a line of people waiting to see it - if I choose to wait in this line, I at least no my spot in it, and how much longer I have to wait for it.
Is it truely too hard to introcude some kind of code that the system will show a queue if one is up, and the place in the queue you are, with expected "response time"?
Thanks
My analogy wasn't meant to disregard any inconvenience experienced by having to wait, Stan. Nor was it meant to describe the situation with character transfers precisely. It was given to explain to the player (and anyone else concerned) that this inconvenience is temporary and once the "rush" dies down, character transference shouldn't be a problem.
It's unfortunate that some are missing out on their raids, or are separated from their friends or family due to the delay caused by the current volume of requests. However, there isn't much we can do right now without impacting game play other than to wait for things to settle.

Hi there!
Just a couple points for consideration:
Character transfers can impact realm performance. If we were to "adjust supply to meet demand" as so casually suggested, we would impact the game experience for players on any given realm(s).
Anything short of instantaneous transfer would result in a queue of some sort, due to the number of requests at this time.
Creating a system to monitor queue status or dynamically update your place in queue would make the queue system take longer. Trading dynamic updates for expediency of the transfer is not something we are interested in.
I realize some of you may think throwing money or equipment or people at this will make the queues go faster, but that is not the case. These systems are going at the speed they are because if they were bigger, faster, more awesome they run the risk of slowing everything down, crashing the transfers, the game or some other lucky target.
Things are the way they are primarily to protect the structure. Please understand and respect the fact that we are trying to allow equal access for everyone, which means there are no extenuating circumstances to take into consideration. No one gets to step over the velvet rope.
I got no lips. I got no tongue.
