I can't seem to find an answer to this specific question, so I hope someone can fill me in...
If I transfer a character named "Stephana", let's say, to a server where I've already created a character with that name. Will I have the opportunity to delete the old character before I am asked to rename the new one? And if so, can I just use the same name? Call me paranoid, but I don't want to risk someone snagging my name between the time I delete the old character and when the transfer actually takes place. :)

I believe you'd be asked to change the name of your character you are moving over first. The only other choice you would have is to risk a name snatcher and delete the first character so that the name is freed up.
