Has it been mentioned whether the expansion will require its own CD key or similar mechanism?
My wife and I play on 2 different accounts, so I would like to know if we will need to buy 2 copies of the Burning Crusade.

That is normally par for the course in any expansion I've ever bought in the past. I don't see that changing at all for this expansion so you'll need to get two copies or two cd keys in order to have the expansion on both accounts.
I suggest a change jar so you can start saving up now. :)

Technically speaking, you shouldn't even be playing on US servers right now since you're in Europe but let's take the idea forward. I believe that you would need to get a US copy of the expansion in order for it to work with your US copy of the main game as well as to be able to stay on the US server. But, that's hypothetically speaking since you aren't suppossed to be playing out of your region. ;)

It shouldn't have to ask for the original CD Key from you unless you've had to reinstall. You should just be able to load the expansion and put in the new cd key to activate it.

You're right. I was thinking along the lines of other game cds. Even if you need to reinstall the game completely the cd key and account should be on file so no need to reenter it. Did I mention caffeine is good? ;)
