We are happy to announce the availability of the Paid Character Transfer service for World of Warcraft. You can find this feature in the account-management section of the official World of Warcraft website. This new functionality will allow you to transfer characters to other realms (within certain restrictions) in order to join friends and family or make new friends and allies. The initial launch of the Paid Character Transfer service will only allow transfers between a limited set of realms. You can now transfer characters off of these realms:
Altar of Storms
Argent Dawn
Demon Soul
Illidan
Warsong
We'll gradually scale up the list of realms to accommodate more players as quickly as possible. To start transferring your characters, just log in to the account-management section and click the Paid Character Transfer button. Good luck in your continued adventures in Azeroth, and have fun on your new realm!

We don't want kittens to die, little Gnome -- I promise. We'll continue to make additonal realms available for the transfer service, and realms currently flagged "not eligible" may indeed be available in the future.

Moving character between accounts is currently possible as long as the transfer character is located on one of the currently available transfer realms. Also, it should be noted that an attempt to transfer a character to or from an account where you are not the subscriber could be considered a violation of the World of Warcraft Terms of Use.
According to the FAQ, to initiate a transfer between two accounts where you are the subscriber, you will need to specify the account name associated with the account you wish to transfer a character to, and answer the 'secret question' for the destination account. Without this information an account to account transfer will not be possible.

The Bliz personality who decided to push this idea through should really get a raise, what with all the money you'll be bringing in without even having to do any of the improvements that SHOULD'VE been done a YEAR ago.
I think it's very important to note that this service isn't one where our goal is to provide incentives for players to transfer realms. It's about offering a service which players have been requesting since the launch of the game. We're happy to launch the service, and excited to see it evolve so as many players that choose to may take advantage of all it has to offer.
It may not be for you, and if such is the case, simply disregard any announcements concerning the process.

First, you should fully understand that we don't support the transfer of accounts from person to person. To address the specifics of your inquiry, however, I'm afraid that you won't be able to move your character from his account to your account since the names do not match. Protecting players from the potential abuse of compromised accounts remains our number one priority, even when launching new services that we'd prefer for all interested parties the opportunity to take advantage of.

My staying on the realm would not affect the population at all. No more, no less ... I don't see the problem.
I agree with your point here, Nvioletlight. This may just be due to current limitation, but also I just may be understanding the process incorrectly at this time. I'll follow up when I have additional information on this particular aspect of the service.

It's possible for the future, but unfortunately as of right now Stormrage is considered full and densely populated. It may not be the answer you wanted to hear but we are constantly evaluating realm populations -- so check back regularly for a change in availability.

I do not understand why you would change this so quickly - if people live in the same household, and want to get accounts straightened out, what exactly is the problem with this?

Hope you will read this. I'm trying to be reasonable.
As we've stated, we'd very much like to allow as many players the opportunity to transfer characters between accounts that are subscribed within a shared household, however, that statement was was never meant to indicate that certain other restrictions wouldn't apply as well.
Currently, the last names must match for various security purposes. We are discussing alternate methods to safe guard against certain types of abuse, which may alleviate the need to impose this particular restriction in the future, however, at this time nothing is concrete.

We're just being very cautious. This service didn't release this late in game's life due to us taking our sweet time, but rather due to its massive nature and the associated complications that revolve around its availability. Bottom line though, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how quickly new realms will be made available for transfer. Just be patient a little longer. Lethon is not even 2 weeks old, and it will soon have lv 60s with good gears from Altar of Storms
Argent Dawn, Demon Soul, Illidan, and Warsong, while majority of people who started fresh here is not even lv 40s yet.
Please tell me there is something wrong going on here...

I have leveled on a PVP server and it's not as hard as people keep saying. Your answers are vague.
Black Dragonflight was a brand new realm operating on new hardware, and opened exclusively for transfers from players on PvE realms, primarily to encourage a large number of players to move over. There was no existing community on the realm and therefore affected no one adversely. Beyond this, the feedback we received from players concerning the decision was less than positive.
In the off chance that we do allow PvE to PvP transfers in the future it will only be to a brand new realm, and only if we deem the process very necessary, or optimal given the particulars of the situation.
I'm honestly very sorry that this is disappointing for some, but we feel overall, it's a very fair decision.

When I read the front page I was very excited. However after reading that there are only 5 reams able to actually use the transfers, I was very disappointed.
I've been waiting to transfer my 60 mage from the Kilrogg server to the Durotan server. I have characters on the Durotan server and play there all the time, so would it affect realm population if I added a preexisting character of mine to Durotan?
Very disappointed how the transfers came out. If I can't bring my mage from Kilrogg -> Durotan then I've been waiting for nothing.
As I've already stated in this thread and was indicated in the announcement, we only have five realms open for transfers initially while we evaluate the system. We will be ramping up the number of available realms over the coming weeks.
Just be patient a little longer.

You say you're all for customer service but will not allow me to complete my transfer.
I have leveled on a PVP server and it's not as hard as people keep saying. Your answers are vague.
Black Dragonflight was a brand new realm operating on new hardware, and opened exclusively for transfers from players on PvE realms, primarily to encourage a large number of players to move over. There was no existing community on the realm and therefore affected no one adversely. Beyond this, the feedback we received from players concerning the decision was less than positive.
In the off chance that we do allow PvE to PvP transfers in the future it will only be to a brand new realm, and only if we deem the process very necessary, or optimal given the particulars of the situation.
I'm honestly very sorry that this is disappointing for some, but we feel overall, it's a very fair decision.

Very disappointed how the transfers came out. If I can't bring my mage from Kilrogg -> Durotan then I've been waiting for nothing.
As I've already stated in this thread and was indicated in the announcement, we only have five realms open for transfers initially while we evaluate the system. We will be ramping up the number of available realms over the coming weeks.
Just be patient a little longer.

Moving character between accounts is currently possible as long as the transfer character is located on one of the currently available transfer realms. Also, it should be noted that an attempt to transfer a character to or from an account where you are not the subscriber could be considered a violation of the World of Warcraft Terms of Use.
According to the FAQ, to initiate a transfer between two accounts where you are the subscriber, you will need to specify the account name associated with the account you wish to transfer a character to, and answer the 'secret question' for the destination account. Without this information an account to account transfer will not be possible.

The Bliz personality who decided to push this idea through should really get a raise, what with all the money you'll be bringing in without even having to do any of the improvements that SHOULD'VE been done a YEAR ago.
I think it's very important to note that this service isn't one where our goal is to provide incentives for players to transfer realms. It's about offering a service which players have been requesting since the launch of the game. We're happy to launch the service, and excited to see it evolve so as many players that choose to may take advantage of all it has to offer.
It may not be for you, and if such is the case, simply disregard any announcements concerning the process.

First, you should fully understand that we don't support the transfer of accounts from person to person. To address the specifics of your inquiry, however, I'm afraid that you won't be able to move your character from his account to your account since the names do not match. Protecting players from the potential abuse of compromised accounts remains our number one priority, even when launching new services that we'd prefer for all interested parties the opportunity to take advantage of.

My staying on the realm would not affect the population at all. No more, no less ... I don't see the problem.
I agree with your point here, Nvioletlight. This may just be due to current limitation, but also I just may be understanding the process incorrectly at this time. I'll follow up when I have additional information on this particular aspect of the service.

It's possible for the future, but unfortunately as of right now Stormrage is considered full and densely populated. It may not be the answer you wanted to hear but we are constantly evaluating realm populations -- so check back regularly for a change in availability.

As we've stated, we'd very much like to allow as many players the opportunity to transfer characters between accounts that are subscribed within a shared household, however, that statement was was never meant to indicate that certain other restrictions wouldn't apply as well.
Currently, the last names must match for various security purposes. We are discussing alternate methods to safe guard against certain types of abuse, which may alleviate the need to impose this particular restriction in the future, however, at this time nothing is concrete.

We're just being very cautious. This service didn't release this late in game's life due to us taking our sweet time, but rather due to its massive nature and the associated complications that revolve around its availability. Bottom line though, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how quickly new realms will be made available for transfer. Just be patient a little longer. Lethon is not even 2 weeks old, and it will soon have lv 60s with good gears from Altar of Storms
Argent Dawn, Demon Soul, Illidan, and Warsong, while majority of people who started fresh here is not even lv 40s yet.
