I played warcraft 2 - 3. I remember the dwarves and every other race on this game. I just don't remember what part the gnomes played?
Someone fill me in.

Q u o t e: Flying Machine/Submarine from WC2.
Quite correct. They are after all the captains of industry and things that sometimes go 'KABOOM'. Though I think the gnomes believe they are better at invention than the goblins. I believe the debates over that still are waged in many inventing rooms to this day.

Q u o t e: well you see when a mommy gnome and a daddy gnome love each other alot, they go out for dinner have a couple bottles of wine and mommy gnomes headache finally goes away, and daddy gnome does what ever he can to get her home quick quick..... and i am going to stop there before i get in trouble.
oh and what she said.
I think they use a cloning machine. I'm not sure gnomes have time for other more 'personal' interactions but I'd prefer not to think about it. I may end up with nightmares.
