Was this idea sc#@!&d? Im still waiting to learn orcish so i can go into battlegrounds and use my Paladins BattleCry.
So just yes or no.
Are you making factions unable to communicate? If not i would suggest Warlocks get a regent spell that would give you the ability to speak all langauages for 15minutes.
That and Alchemist get a craft their Potions of Tongue.
Maybe a engineering get something like:
Gnomish Protoss Translator
trinket
Passive:Able to understand a speak other languages
"We saw the interdimensional transport ship crash and we knew we had to get ride on this. When it landed i heard from afar, "A Carrier has arrived!"
This game will feel really closed off from fun PvP and rping if we dont get a langauage system.

Difficulty with designing an effective language learning system could stem from methods in which they are learned and the longevity of its usefulness or uniqueness.
If you train languages from an NPC, it can become an issue of a simple money/timesink or some sort of reputation grind. In the end, most players will likely end up knowing all languages and use Common anyways as the standard of communication.
If they are exchangable skills between players, it only shortens the time in which every player can learn every language and, again, we are back to using Common as standard communication.
For all of the complexity and options players may want, you can easily end up with a system that isn't used for much.
I had an idea to make cross-faction communication visble through the use of Curse of Tongues. Casting Curse of Tongues makes you speak Demonic. If that was an actual usable language by Horde and Alliance, players could communicate briefly between factions. It adheres to lore considerations and puts temporal constraints on usage.
Just some food for thought.
