Update 5/31/06
Our intention to open the Oceanic realms on one of our new World of Warcraft sites has been to offer the best play experience possible for those seeking these new realms. As production on this new site progressed we have found that the best connection, and thus play experience, is to one of our existing sites. In order to accomplish this we will be migrating existing realms to the new site, therefore making enough room to open these two new Oceanic realms. As we need time to prepare for the realm migrations and preparation for the new Oceanic realms, these realms are now tentatively scheduled to go live Thursday, June 8.
Update 5/27/06
We have run into power issues at the new site which is unfortunately going to slightly delay the release of these new realms. While we are fairly certain we can no longer achieve a May 30th release, we're shooting for the sometime the same week. Until the power issues are able to be overcome there is no way to know exactly when these realms can be opened.
Update 5/25/06
The recently released realms are on the same hardware as the previous two, the site that is required for the oceanic realms has not been completed. We are still estimating that the new Oceanic realms will be available on May 30th.
Update 5/23/06
As we had anticipated we have run into some additional delays when bringing the authentication and realm hardware live which is now placing us for Oceanic realm releases on May 30th. This date is still an estimate and is subject to change depending on the implementation of the hardware it will reside on.
Update 5/18/06
We have experienced some minor delays when setting up our new authentication and realm hardware. This will likely delay the release of the Oceanic realms slightly; however we are still currently planning for their release next week.
You may have noticed new US realms opened before the planned Oceanic realms, the reason for this is two fold. The Oceanic realms exist in specific geographic locations. This is done to provide the quickest information travel time from client to server, aka a lower latency. The hardware these US realms exist on is not in the desired geographic location for an Oceanic realm. The second reason being that it's important players looking for new realms, but that may not live in an Oceanic time-zone, be able to play on a new realm closer to their own time-zone, instead of playing on an Oceanic realm as a compromise. This can help ensure that the Oceanic realm population consists of players more or less existing within the same play schedules.
5/16/06
We are currently planning to open two new Oceanic realms in one week. The opening of these realms depends on tests of our new authentication hardware which we will be testing later this week. Our current schedule is to release these new realms in one week; however this is subject to change depending on our authentication hardware tests.
We will provide more information as soon as it is available. Keep an eye on the main website as well as here in the General forum.

Update 6/7/06
We will be opening two new Oceanic realms:
AmanThul - PvE
Barthilas - PvP
We want to ensure that our Oceanic players are able to create characters as soon as these realms come up, giving you all first crack at creating characters on these new realms at a time which is comfortable for you. To carry out this plan we have decided to delay the release of these realms by a few hours. The two new realms will be released at an estimated 11:59 PM PDT, June 8th, which will place these realms live at approximately 4:59 PM GMT+10 June 9th. We believe that releasing these realms at a time in which Oceanic players are beginning to log in will help ensure these realms start with a strong community of Oceanic players.
We apologize if there was any confusion with our original posting of the date June 8th; any times or dates we list should be considered Pacific Time (GMT-8) unless specifically stated otherwise.
