Subject: Berserking
Why is it berserking is the ONLY racial in the game that costs energy/rage/mana? Nice balancing.

Balance isn't determined by whether or not spells and abilities function identically. We wouldn't have created more than one character class if such was the goal. When we last tweaked the racial ability "Berserking", we decided to make it much more powerful than it was previously. Simply put, we couldn't justify bringing the numbers to what you see now without demanding that its activation had an associated cost, one that was very minor.

Are you simply trolling, or is there something about the cost of Berserking that makes you feel as though this ability is too taxing?

Q u o t e:
Are you implying berserking is better than escape artist or warstomp?

I think you need to revaluate the way in which you're perceiving balance. For instance, throwing around terms such as "better" with no context is a very dangerous undertaking. Do I think Berserking is better than Escape Artist or Warstomp? I could create 1000 different situations, and my answer as to which ability would be "better" would differ every time.

Again, are you unhappy about something in particular here? Because you're not detailing a problem with the Berserking, other than to compare it with other abilities which are specifically designed to work different.

Q u o t e:
Er, what? No, the effect of Berserking is weaker than in its previous incarnation. Cutting its duration in half and granting a % bonus which, in most cases, will be less than 25%, will do that. When both versions of Berserking are active, the old version is clearly much stronger with a likely greater effect and longer duration. Not to mention a shorter cooldown.

The only benefit the new Berserking as is the ability to activate it on demand, which really isn't that great considering one needs to be half dead to see its true power. I've made my peace with the change, but please don't try to tell me it was a buff...

You're forgetting the transitional iterations, in which the ability became active with a much lower effect than currently, and no associated cost whatsoever. This was live on the PTRs before our final tweaks were implimented. Tweaks based upon both our own testing and player feedback.

So why do warstomp, WOTF or escape artist not cost anything? Are they worse?

I'll let the community continue to try and explain things to you. It seems to me that you're not really making an attempt to understand this discussion. I'd highly suggest if you have a genuine interest to learn, that you try and absorb information when it's presented to you -- and also avoid perspectives which force you to think of mechanics (or anything for that matter) in such subjective terms.

So does blizzard favor trolls? Is that it?

I'm fairly certain that you are abusing these boards and that your initial message was posted as a means to create unrest. I'm going to test this theory, however, because I feel strongly that making accusatory statements without supporting evidence isn't proper. So, if you're not a troll, please respond to this post, or attempt to create a new thread.

If we don't see you, say, for the next 72 hours -- we'll know that you are in-fact a troll.
