Subject: Your "other news source" is kind of lame.
My subscription is basically like buying an entirely new game every three months, and with some serious security (the retention rate isn't bad).

I believe that patch notes, which contain balance tweaks, bugfixes, and content that should normally be delivered by the most expedient and democratic method available (the forums, where everyone can complain and/or praise them twenty pixels down) to be delayed as any part of a publicity stunt.

I don't want to have to browse over to IGN's terrible adtastic website to see news (I hate ads more than I can describe without sounding crazy- I flat out don't watch TV), and I remember the early days of the net when I'd still have to wait for people to print things on dead trees and *physically move* them across the country, when they could have had some nerd twiddle a couple thousand bits and be done with it.

We pay dearly for this service/product hybrid, and generally I'm very pleased with it. But to change the rules about how your customers are approached in order to make a bit more of a ruckus isn't right, and shouldn't be done.

As a longtime Nintendo player, I expect those guys to dress up in donkey costumes and kick around stuffed monkeys or whatever: everytime they release a game, they need me, and every other possible customer, to be paying attention.

But we keep buying this game, month after month. Generally, this shows: there's folks here who give us information before it's live, who take our concerns up, etc. Don't let marketing change this.

Disregard if you guys actually don't have patch notes ready to go / stuff is actually being worked on.

This isn't the first time we have given information to be exclusive to a website or magazine, and it certainly will not be the last.

We do like to give out information here on the forums when possible, but there is no guarantee that we even can. The forums and website are in support of the game, but they aren't directly attached. In fact you don't need to pay any fee, or even buy the game to read the website or forums. The information here is given for free, as a bonus, there is no requirement set inside the game's text for us to provide information on content before it is released. It's just something we like to do, and there may be cases when we can't, or the release of that information may be delayed.

The delayed release of the information in question has nothing to do with patch development. The actual release of the content is what you should be concerned about, not information on what it contains.

Q u o t e:
i.e. We simply don't make enough money off of your monthly subscription fee, so we have figured out that by making you buy a magazine or ticket to events such as E3 we can squeeze you out of even more money.

We don't make money from magazine subscriptions or tickets to E3. This is about forming stronger relationships with other businesses, now you're just being melodramatic.
