Subject: Applying to Blizzard...
I saw the call for artists...

...but I just want to know if anyone has actually attempt or attempted and has successfully made it.

I'm a science-fic/ fantasy illustrator and have been putting together a portfolio for submission and I would to talk to others who have tried and/or are in.

I think the art industry as a whole is very competitive. We have some amazing artists on staff, and we look for the same when hiring. I applied, and was hired, but not as an artist, and not for my 'house with a dog, and a smiling sun' doodles.

I would recommend looking through some of the wallpapers, see if you're on the same level as the artists we currently employ. There is no reason not to apply really, go for it, what do you have to lose?

Q u o t e:
Are you saying you originally applied to become an artist on the Blizzard team?

How many artists does Blizzard typically have on staff at any moment, and how much of work do they contract out to freelancers? I'd be very interested. I'm an art school student and my goal is to work in concept art at a behemoth like Blizzard.

No, although some amount of my art skills are a bit beyond the doodles I described. I don't fancy myself an artist though. I really don't know how many we have on staff, and I'm not sure if we ever contract work.
