Last night I went with a group into Wailing Caverns. Lag was incredibly bad, with my latency at times over 4000. I died once to it, which was acceptable, given that I continued to play in spite of the lag.
What was not acceptable were the number of disconnects. Not once, not twice, not even three times... but a whopping 12 times just in that one instance. Prior to that, I had been out herbing in Arathi and was disconnected three times. Nothing has changed on my end except that I got a new, better computer on which to play.
So I can only surmise that the disconnects are caused server side. Even if I have no control over them, I'd really like to know why they happen. Maybe the recent patch? All the "fixes" maybe? Whisperwind is down greatly in server population and I haven't had a queue to get through in some time, but lag is worse and disconnects are too.
Can someone tell me why?

If the disconnects were happening to everyone in the instance it is possible that a realm issue may have been the cause. From your description it sounds as though you may have been the only one affected, and if that is the case I would recommend visiting our Technical Support forum for further assistance.
