First, I will give a little background info about me and my wow playing. I'm a typical 19 year old college student; I enjoy gaming, playing music (bassist), working out, drinking, etc. I started playing wow shortly after its release with some friends from high school and a few other RL friends from my hometown. I made an undead rogue, who would become one of the most (in)famous characters on the server, with close to 100 days /played. My friends and I had our little guild, never really accomplished anything, but we had fun. I got to 60 relatively fast, and began running all the dungeons, getting my blue gear and such. Nothing special so far.
Fast forward to the release of the Honor System. I had been craving this, as I consider myself a PvP junkie. I quickly became one of the top pvpers on my realm, usually getting standing 1 or 2 each week. I was at about rank 11 when the battlegrounds were released, and sadly that was the end of my pvp career. I had been getting a rank or two each week pre-battlegrounds, and was easily on the way to being one of the first rank 14s on my server, but I simply couldn't compete with the WSG farmers, so I gave up. I considered quitting the game, as most of my RL friends that I started with had done, but I decided to try PVE first.
During my time pvping I had become quit well known on the server, by both horde and alliance, and had made many friends in the top PVE guild horde side. I became very close to one of the officers in the guild, who happened to be an officer (she was the Asian blizzcon succubus for those that know what I'm talking about). Since we became good friends, she had been trying to get me to join their guild, so I decided to give it a shot. At this time, the guild had just gotten to Ragnaros, and had just killed Onyxia for the first time. We quickly downed rag, and went on to clear BWL way ahead of the rest of the guilds on our realm. Anyways, my pvp days, me joining the leading PVE guild, and the fact that I was a frequent poster on the realm forums lead to me developing quite the (mostly positive) reputation, and I would later learn to hate this.
My story begins with a typical Sunday morning. Its about 11 am server time, and my guild always ran MC on Sunday starting at noon. I log on, hop on the zeppelin to stv, take a flight to badlands, go afk during the ridiculously long flight, and come back and start heading towards MC. I had just entered Searing Gorge when I see 3 alliance who seemed to be questing. The first one I target is a level 42 female Night Elf druid. Now, I usually was against ganking lowbies, but a 3 on 1 made it more fair, so I dismount, stealth and run up and 1 shot the 42 druid, then I realize the other two there are 60s, a druid and warlock. I think I was able to drop the warlock before the 60 druid noticed, but he just soul stoned and so I took off knowing I couldn't beat the two of them. I get a little laugh out of the gank and continue on to MC, not thinking twice about it.
The next day, I notice a thread with my name in the title on my realm forums, and sure enough it was a level 42 female night elf druid complaining about the ganking. However, it wasn't a typical "whine whine whine" post, instead it was full of things like "ill forgive you this time you big meany, <3". So I, thinking this is either a fruity guy or a 13 year old girl, respond with a simple "heh, sorry". She responds again with a typical flirty, full of emotes, crap post. I don't think any more of it or "her".
A week or two later I was in Felwood heading to meet a warrior from my guild to do some farming together. As I get close to him, I see a few 50-55 alliance. I start attacking them, and my warrior friend comes along and we slaughter 4 or 5 of them (we're pretty geared out with MC gear at this time). During the rumble, I noticed my warrior friend dropped some female night elf druid in like 2 hits, but little did I know it was my same little friend from Searing Gorge…
As I'm browsing my realm forums the next day, I see yet another post from the same person, with my name as the title yet again. Its full of more flirty emote crap such as "I cant believe you ganked me again you big meany, I just <3 you. /kiss /love" etc etc. Now, the problem was that she asked for my aim name or email in the post as well. At the time I couldn't log on to the realm forums so a friend from my guild quickly posted my email and aim name for this girl, who we will call Sarah. A few hours later I get an instant message from Sarah. We start talking, and she seems nuts about me. "omg I cant believe im actually talking to you" and other things like this. I just find it all hilarious, and decide to have some fun with it. I invite her to come on to a vent server my friends and I used, and when she gets on it I'm pleasantly surprised to learn that "she" really is a she, and the same age as I none the less. We spent a long time that afternoon talking and I decide she's actually kinda cool. We exchanged pictures and such, and I was surprised to see that she was actually a good looking girl as well. A week or so goes by with us getting to know one another on aim and ventrilo, and I start realizing that this chick really digs me.
I, being a typical single 19 year old male, am not about to turn down attention from a hot, legal, cool, gamer chick. So we continue talking and it starts turning a little more serious. She begins calling me at night (free nights and weekends ftw) and we quickly become "us", if you catch my drift. I had never been interested in internet relationships, so I was a bit skeptical about things, especially when this girl was from the Midwest and I live on the east coast, but I decided to let it go on and see how things turn out.
A month or so later, she begins talking about making a trip out to see me, which I'm completely cool with, but didn't think would actually happen. About the same time, things take an interesting turn, I learn that this girl is a bit of a freak. I learned that she was into cyber/phone sex, which had never interested me at all, but I played along a bit just to please her, and even got her to do some things on her web cam for me (this I was a bit more interested in…). The big L word also popped up, which I went along with, knowing that if I didn't this would all end, and I was still having fun with it. I also learn more about her real life around this time. She has an ex boyfriend who she started playing wow with who she is still "good friends" with. This seems a bit suspicious at first, but I quickly learn that she's been ignoring him and not hanging out with him since we started whatever it is we had, which seems like a good thing to me. I also start noticing some negative things with this girl. She is very, very clingy. She has to know where I am at all times, talk to me all the time, etc. I was ok with this at first, but it got old quick. I also learn that she's had an online/long distance relationship in the past, which lets me know that something is up if this girl, who is a 19 year old hot college chick, has to turn to the internet for dating, more than once.
Anyways, a month or so later and we have it all planned out. My roommate is going home for fall break, I will stay here, and she will drive from Texas to South Carolina and we will spend the long weekend together. Cool with me. As the date draws closer she starts getting scared of making the trip and getting caught by her parents and such, but I tell her it will all be ok and she trusts me, so she decides she will go through with it. Fall break arrives, my roommate leaves, and Sarah leaves Texas, on her way to South Carolina. At about 2 am that night I get a call from her, she was downstairs in my dorm lobby. Awesome. I go down, and I'm happy to see that she really is the hot chick I had been watching on web cam for the past two months. We have a big meet and greet, lots of hugs and kisses, etc etc. I carry her bags from her car to the dorm and all, and we put on a movie while cuddling and such in my bed (no couch or anything in my room). This of course leads to making out, and she quickly urges for more. Jackpot. This girl is a freak, an intense sex session ensues until 8 am the next morning. Long story short, the weekend was a pure !&$% fest.
Sunday comes, and its time for her to leave. She cries a !&$%ing river, which I expected, with her being so emotionally clingy and such. She drives off, on her way back to Texas, and I don't get any phone calls that day or night, so I wonder a bit about her. I get an email from her the next day about how her parents found out where she went because her ex boyfriend came over and told them or something (she had said he didn't know she was coming). She basically tells me that $!@% had hit the fan for her at home, but there really wasn't anything I could do.
Things continue on normally for the most part, except I notice she is being overly flirty with a lot of guys, as well as doing things like being all but silent while we're on the phone but I could hear typing and such, so she was talking to other people a hell of a lot when we were supposed to be talking. I admit, I was growing tired of things by now. The late pointless phone calls every night, all the emotional baggage, and the shadiness of her flirting with other guys when we were on vent and things/her ex boyfriend who was still a friend, all were growing old and annoying, fast.
One day she tells me she has been talking to this other guy from our server that lives near her (he happened to be a friend of mine in game), and that they're going to get lunch together. I was like whatever, not really caring and kind of hoping to get out of this tedious "relationship". They had lunch, she gets home and calls me and tells me bout it/him, and that he invited her to come to a LAN party near their town that weekend where some other people from our server are going to be. She tells me the day of it that she's sick or something and that she's not going to go to the LAN party, and then that her ex bf is "threatening to come over and raise hell, and my parents would freak out if he did", so she is going to go to get away from that. What happened to being sick? If you're not there and he still comes over, wouldn't you still get in trouble? Whatever.
So later that night I'm playing wow (which I never got to do anymore because this chick took up all of my free time) and I get a message from a guy that was at the LAN party, who we will call tom, and had made a character named TomluvsSarah. Yeah, this is a bit suspicious. I also knew that there was a lot of alcohol and such there, so I expected she was getting drunk and would hook up with him or the guy she had had lunch with before. The next day I get a call from her, she says nothing happened, I didn't even ask or care at this point, but whatever, and that she's going back that night.
By this point, our "relationship" has me disgusted with the whole thing, its nothing but "I wish I could be there again, my life sucks so bad here", which I was sick of hearing. I had fun with her here, but when she went back she changed, and her $!@% got old quick. Now I know I'm coming off as a total douche bag, but whatever. I was not in this to have some long distance, emo, whiney #@%$! "girlfriend" who did nothing but whine and flirt with other guys *online* in front of me. This is where the story gets interesting.
One day after class I'm sitting on aim talking to some friends and I get a message from a girl that was in the same guild as Sarah. She says "hey, I want to tell you something because you deserve to know." I'm like ok… She goes on to inform me that a guy in their guild had been talking about how he and Sarah are planning on meeting up that weekend. The interesting thing is, he's from Colorado. She also tells me about how she asked him what's going on between them, and he responded "we are kinda dating". Interesting.
So, I think this girl for telling me and I decide to confront Sarah about this. She denies it all of course, so I decide to log on to wow and ask this new guy, who we will call bob. Bob doesn't deny it at all. I confront Sarah about it again, and she simply says "I'm so sorry. I love you, and I still want to be with you, but I do have feelings for him as well." Lol. This #@%$! really is crazy. This turns into a big fight between us that goes on for a few hours, and obviously I tell her its over. Finally, my way out.
Now, as happy as I was to be out of this damn ordeal, I did miss the way she was before she went psycho-emo on me, and we did have a hell of a lot of fun that weekend, but I had more important things going on IRL (new girls and such) so whatever. I also quit wow shortly after all of this, as I had just not been playing any more and did not want to deal with being on the same server as psycho #@%$!. I did, however, continue posting on a forum of a guild I was good friends with.
So one day I get an email saying I had a private message from a member of that forum, so I go and check it, and I find out that its from the guy that Sarah had originally started playing wow with. Yup, the ex-boyfriend. The pm says "there may be some things you want to know about what happened with Sarah. Send me an email." So I did, simply because I was curious. Here is his message:

Ok I heard about what happened with you and Sarah. In the end I had hoped I would have been the only one to have been through what happened. I was Sarah's real life boyfriend for the past 2 years. She was seeing you while she was still seeing me. From what I heard she went to see you for 4 days in South Carolina. If this story is true.... we were still going out at the time. I was worried sick about her for those 4 days cause she promised she'd call me when she got to her supposed destination of Paris, Texas. She never called. The story she gave me when she got back, was she was at her friends apartment helping her move the name was Mary. Course my gut told me she was lying but hey I didn't care I was just glad she was alive at the time. Then I started hearing more about [guy from lunch] and you all the time and how great you guys were. Needless to say she likes to make people jealous, in turn she had a lot of fun with me, and apparently you too.
Wow, big surprise. The whole time I was "with" her, she was still dating this guy, cheating on him with me and me with him, as well as this guy from lunch/LAN party, and later the new guy from Colorado. I later found out from her "ex" that she had cheated on him many other times while they dated (is this guy a dumbass or what, why didn't you learn your lesson buddy?).
Well, as far as I know she's still "with" Colorado guy, but I really don't care. I thought about warning that poor guy, but the ex boyfriend guy told me he did. Whatever. I'm glad I learned my lesson about gaming/internet/relationships and how they just don't mix. Is this story particularly good? No. Do I care? Not in the slightest.
I've been dating a new girl (that I've known in real life for a long time) and let me warn you, there's nothing to compare to the real thing. This internet dating fad is bull$!@%, stay away.
Also, the next time you think about ganking a lowbie female nightelf, just do yourself a favor and stay away.
