I have a few things to state, and my hopes are that this will actually be read by, and possibly even responded to.
Blizzard Representatives, I ask one thing of you in this. Please respond that this post has at least been read. I don't care if the statements are answered, I simply want to know that someone is aware of it.
I have played World of Warcraft since Beta testing. Since then, each consecutive patch has introduced more and more problems that usually aren't even related to the patch itself, and each in turn stacks on the next.
World of Warcraft, while being quite possibly the single most popular MMO ever, also has shown to be the most viewed as 'broken'. Yes, the servers do work most of the time (most being about 90%) but even that is, on a business perspective, unacceptable. Especially for something that is designed for people to be connected to for 10+ hours at a time.
What I want to know is if these problems of Authentication (which is becoming a near dailyissue) are going to actually be fixed or addressed in any way.
Why is there a near total lack of communication with the clients (in this case, the players) as to what is going on? "We are working on it" is not very satisfactory when it comes to something we are paying for. Yes, I am aware of the EULA and that, legally, the game doesn't have to work at all and I don't have any say in the matter. But that doesn't make it 'okay' for this fact to exist. This is not a problem with 1.10. This is a problem with 1.0.
My second topic comes to patches. Is there going to be a 'non-content' patch? Will 1.12 or 1.13 possibly be a content purely focused on modifying the game and fixing bugs and inbalances in the system, as opposed to delivering new content? It is getting to a point of sounding and appearing like a necessity, in my opinion.
Thirdly, and last, communication as a whole. Blizzard has a problem with communication with it's clients. Be it petitions, complaints, errors, requeests, whatever. Everything is moderated and automated. Nobody ever knows what is going on or who is handling things. It essentially leaves us players in the dark, and in doubt.
I am not cancelling my account simply because I have invested too much time already to simply stop, which may be viewed as an addiction. Regardless, I would much rather enjoy the game I pay for than not pay at all and not have it.
Consider these things, and I wait with my well honed patience for a response.
Edit: My apologies for putting 'blizzard' in the old topic.[ post edited by Mashedpotato ]

I have read this.
Now, are you going to summarize the following link as only saying "we are working on it"?

Q u o t e: Blizzard knows its a big deal.
They know it drives clients crazy.
They know they can't have their log-in server screwing up everytime peak hours roll around.
QFT. However, this is not something that can be reiterated everyday to the satisfaction of each individual poster. Everyone here has varying degrees of awareness of our postings, but a more complete awareness of issues such as authentication problems. Just because we discuss plans and sticky them, does not mean everyone reads them. This is why we see "blue never responds" or "blue only responds to [dumb issue] and not mine" and other such absolutist statements. When it comes down to it, I make comments on such large issues at least once a week, usually more. The plans to resolve things simply have a longer timeline than many players patience, which is unfortunate, but also unavoidable at this point.
Tomorrow, another post(s) like this will arise and my attention (or lack thereof)will determine that poster's world-view of whether they feel acknowledged or not.
And the day after that, we shall rinse and repeat...

Q u o t e: Tseric, I've said it before directly to you, and I will say it again.
Things are moving in the right direction. I do not feel that the pace is sufficient, but I can say in the last two week I have seen more and MORE posts being picked up on, replied to and treated as they should.
I've also watched major issues get swept under the rug, time and time again. I've watched vague answers being left vague, and a company policy of not addressing specific realms, even when it is clear that the realms affected are extrodinarily worse off then the generic post (AGAIN, something that finally started to change last night).
The tide is changing as far as the blue posts are concerned. I must say, I am glad to see it, and refreshed by it. But this change must continue.
You are right, you will never please everyone, and you will always be fighting that uphill battle. But honestly, you are moving in the right direction, not only in my opinion, but many others here.
Do *NOT* stop. I still do not think that you we are close to being finished with where it needs to go, but the first seeds seem to be planted with the CMs.
I will again commend you on your honesty. I do truly appreciate it. Even if it doesn't contain everything that I expect, it is a breath of fresh air. When other blizzard posters say things, it honestly comes across as if they are hiding something. When you post, it doesn't. And I respect that.
Rogu, once again, I appreciate your comments and see what you are envisioning and what you desire. I do not plan on stopping, although we may not get to the exact ideal situation you may envision.
I would merely like to add one point.
Q u o t e: I've watched vague answers being left vague, and a company policy of not addressing specific realms, even when it is clear that the realms affected are extrodinarily worse off then the generic post (AGAIN, something that finally started to change last night).
What we have here is a situation of multiple issues overlapping and affecting each other. Every time a realm or realms may drop, there is almost always a subsequent issue with authentication, as players dropped from the game surge in great numbers trying to log back in. Yes, the authentication process is not what we want it to be, but the core issue is realm stability, which we continue to address through migrations and transfers. While I'm not arguing that authenticating may be more difficult this past week than previously, it is not because of a change in status of authentication, but because of issues that arose from the recent patch. These issues then put more focus on the issue of authentication, as the load it attempts to handle is greater than it was last week.
Addressing a change to authentication is, therefore, not accurate.

Q u o t e: Again I do realize that there could be any number of reasons as to why you are not able to tell us what we are asking for. What your company needs to realize is whatever polices and or practices that dictate your responses are making a large group of increasingly frustrated customers and I'm sure frustrated CMs.
A very salient point. I make considerations daily according to how players may receive information and what policies dictate what I can say. It is a tightrope, to say the least. I do my best to balance external and internal considerations and can(and do) invoke the wrath of both sides on occassion.
