How come some servers, such as Ysondre that are already on the new hardware, have to be brought down along with 15 others to migrate 4 single servers to the new server.
Why not transfer them all if they have to be brought down, or not bring them all down.

The realms that are down are linked via hardware and networking. Migrating realms is something that basically requires the full attention of the overall structure and utilizes most, if not all, of the available resources. Someone had previously equated it to running a defrag on your harddrive and then trying to play WoW on it. I guess that analogy fits for this purpose.

Q u o t e: Ok i guess that makes sense, so are the 4 being migrated the only ones that NEED to go to the new server? or it's all they have time for in the 24 hr period?
As realms are migrated over, we want to monitor performance once the move has been made and see whether the effects are worth it for continued migration. Consider the fact that if we migrated every single realm over and load was too large or some other critical failure occurred, that would be catastrophic.
When these realms are migrated over, it is going to relieve pressure on the other realms still in place. It is not necessary to migrate everything to improve performance on all realms. In fact, migrating everything is not a good solution at all, but would simply recreate issues we are looking to correct.
