As entertaining as the madness and confusion has been while no one on most of my realms can use their main characters to post --- is there any time estimate on when it will be fixed? Is the next scheduled matinence or forum restart likely to resolve the problem? I've been poking around but haven't found a blue post on the issue ( WTB [better search feature] )

Unavailable forum characters seems to be related to actual World of Warcraft sites. There are a number of realms affected by actual grouping. We are waiting on the proper people to arrive and address this matter today. There is no definite ETA, but resolving this matter will probably require a forum restart, which we would likely schedule for off-peak tonight.
I'll let you know when I hear more about this.
