Q u o t e:
This patch converts the Mac clients to Universal Binary form, enabling it to run on the new Mactel systems (Macs with Intel chips). I'm suprised they held the size down to only 25 mB.

Each patch is tailored for its target audience. There are pieces of the patch file you receive that are platform neutral (assets) and platform specific (code).

So the PC patch for 1.9.3 has
(some new data)(new PC code) == 25MB

and the Mac patch has
(same new data)(new Mac code) == 30MB

The Mac patch was noticeably bigger because it went from single-architecture to dual (Intel&PowerPC). None of this affected the PC patch - the PC patch has its own newly built ".exe" file for Windows included.

So, no PC 'code' is included in the Mac patch or vice versa, they are set up to transfer the minimum needed set of data to each user.
