Subject: BLUE: Farmers and LBRS?
What are they doing in there? I always see them zone out, then back in. They are farming in there...They are not doing UBRS/LBRS raids. When they can't zone in anymore, they sit behind the portal in the corner, stealthed, so no one can see / attack them. Why are you letting them do this? Find out what they are farming in there, and get it under control.

Since I've done this myself, I can give an estimated guess... I imagine they're seeking the Greater Fire Protection Potion recipe, which, as I'm sure you're aware, sells for a pretty penny on the Auction House.

It's not risk-free in the slightest, and is not an abuse of game mechanics. "Farming" is not against policy. :P

Q u o t e:
Hmm, yes Cay, but when they use movement hacks to modify their character's positions it's not ok.

Yes, but that's not farming, that's hacking, which is a different issue.

I can say honestly that farming said recipe in LBRS takes no hacking whatsoever. :P

Agreed.

But Cay speaks as if she knows what these people are doing which I doubt is the case.

You doubt it in what sense?

You doubt that I understand what they're doing in the instance itself, or what they're doing afterward?

Farming isn't against policy. We do action those who break policy in regards to selling in-game items and gold for real-life currency, but that takes a great deal more investigation than "He's been going into the same instance for 20 hours; ban him."

I don't investigate these matters at all, Kryssa.

If you do see suspicious behavior, by all means, report it. The GMs -- not I -- will investigate it. I was simply offering a perfectly valid possibility. I didn't say it was definitively what they were doing, but did offer a potential reason for their behavior

And folks, I understand that you feel "it's obvious" what they're doing. But we simply can't take action without hard proof. Let's say you really want your epic mount and decide to play a great deal during the weekend. You play 20 hours Saturday and 20 hours Sunday -- your entire playtime focused on making gold. You have your DND flag on and don't respond to tells.

By the logic presented by some, you should be banned for this behavior despite not having broken any policy whatsoever. That behavior isn't against policy and we don't ban for it. YES, we investigate such behavior. We've banned several people who have sold in-game gold for real-life currency. We'll continue to investigate and do so. (And I apologize, but no, I'm not going to go into the details of investigation -- that just gives others means to circumvent it.) This investigation takes time to complete, so no, the behavior you see won't stop immediately. It doesn't mean we're ignoring it.

As to the Egg-O-Matic thing -- what would you have us do? Let it run, continuing to cause problems while we fix the underlying issue, or disable it to prevent further problems while we fix the underlying issue? We picked the latter. I apologize if you were under the mistaken assumption that such problems can be fixed at the drop of a hat, but that is not how the world works, unfortunately.
