Okay, I spoke with Liam from customer service regarding the 20+ page thread where we can't get our promised answers.
Here's what he had to say:
---------------------------------
* Has there been a decision made regarding character creation?
Not at this time, the last meeting was held yesterday and at that time it was decided to keep the status quo.
* We were promised an update today, so you mean there has been no action taken in that regard?
As far as I know, there has not been a meeting today to update that information.
* But some of the customer service reps said there was a meeting, and we were told by the CMs and on the news panel in the game we would be getting an update.
If they promised something, they should have done it -- but I apologize for the false information
* What can people do if they're affected by this situation?
They can contact customer service and we can compensate individuals on a case-by-case basis.
* Is there any interaction between your staff and the community managers regarding this issue.
No. They have not spoken with us regarding this issue.
* Is there any other method people can contact Blizzard to address this issue?
Unfortunately, no.
-------------------------
At that point, I thanked him -- because he was honestly trying his very best to answer my questions as kindly and as honestly as possible.

We're still reviewing the situation. I apologize for not updating you sooner, but there are a lot of factors to consider surrounding this decision and they change from day to day. At the moment, it's looking as if it will remain disabled for a short while longer, but I am not positive. I'll try to get a solid update for you tomorrow.

Q u o t e: In all do respect you have had 2 weeks to get this done what in gods name is the hold up
To be perfectly honest with you, some of the solutions we're working on take longer than two weeks. Money can't always replace time. This particular issue is surrounding a certain number of full realms (not all of them) that are overpopulated. When it comes down to a choice between character creation being disabled on a set of realms for a while, or everyone having difficulties logging in, we've chosen the former. We're working on resolving the situation in a variety of ways, but it hasn't come to fruition just yet.

Q u o t e: Caydiem, a lot of people (myself included) are wondering why these particular servers are closed when they aren't necessarily the worst offenders in terms of queue times. Is there some technical issue these servers have in common, and the others don't, that is behind Blizzard's decision?
I can't fully answer that without going into technical details that I'm not allowed to divulge. Suffice it to say that the chosen realms do have a technical detail in common that makes them the target for this treatment at the moment.
