Subject: Stormwind Sewers 1 man instance? Blue?
Ok I recently heard that the instance in Stormwind that is behind a gate was going to be a 1 man instance called the Stormwind sewers.

Is this true?

And if it is true or not, Is there going to be a 1 man instance ever?

(im not talking about a lvl 60 running through SM eather. that doesn't count.)

The developers have no plans to make a solo instance at all, to my knowledge. The return investment from such development time -- which would be longer than a normal dungeon, as it's difficult to balance a one-man dungeon in a way that is equally challenging to all nine classes -- would not be worth it.

Here's the return on investment factor laid out plainly.

Let's say you decided to do a solo instance "efficiently". You have a different type of the same instance for each class; that is, you use the same geometry and monster models, but tune the monsters differently depending on the class.

Even with this "time-saving" plan, you'd still have to design content in such a way that it couldn't be cheesed for the given class (rogue stealth, for example), while still focusing on making the encounters challenging. Now, let's say that one class's balance of this content takes, oh, half the time of a 5-man dungeon balance. (That's an extreme on the short side; it'd probably take longer). The item team then needs to focus on class-specific items that drop, which would require more of their time than a standard instance.

And all of this work would amount to... the individual running it ~3 times to get all the loot therein, and abandoning it.

That is a small return on investment, in comparison to, say, a 5-man instance, which would take less time to create and be far more repeatable than said solo instance plan.

(Quests take much less time, and thus their non-repeatable status is still a decent return on investment.)
