Didn't see any post on this so I thought I just might ask.
Yeah I am jewish, the fact that "Feast of Winter Veil" mirrors the Christmas holiday doesn't bother me at all. I rather enjoy this time of year. My fathers side of the family is Catholic, and we would useually spend christmas day up at my aunts. So no I am not offended at all by things that resemble Christmas.
My only question is, where are the Menorahs? I mean even in mainstream media for the past several years Chanukah has had a visable presence. Just wondering why no aspects of it were incoprerated into the game? Unless of course I missed it.

There are no real world religious symbols, Christmas-related or otherwise, in the game for this holiday. That is how it will remain. While some of the more secular symbols are similar, Winter Veil is a holiday all its own pertaining to Azeroth and there are no plans to add real world symbols of any religious holiday into the event.

Q u o t e: I don't mind whether or not there are symbols of any kind, but what about Christmas trees?
Edit: added quote
If you read my quote, you'd note that I mentioned some of the real world secular symbols of the holiday are similar to those found in game. I did address that point.

Q u o t e: So your point is that there are non-Christians that still celebrate holidays with a tree? I guess I buy that, since somehow Christmas is an American national holiday.
Btw, nice poem. I enjoyed it.
No.
My point is that there are some similar symbols seen both in Azeroth and the real world holiday season that have nothing to do with real world religion.
This does not mean that Winter Veil is Christmas. It is its own fantasy holiday that has a few similarities. More than anything, it is meant to encourage the spirit of giving and joy that (hopefully) infuses family and friends around this time of year. I see many players gleefully running around as gnomes having snowball fights. I see players wrapping presents and giving them as gifts to others. In some regard, then, this event is successful, and it is in that spirit that I hope you enjoy it, also.

Q u o t e: I guess the chirsmas trees, lights, reindeer, santa costumes are all not real world symbols. NOBODY is asking for a Star of David or a cross. We are asking for a Menorah to parallel the symbols shown in game right now: Chirsmas Trees, rienderr, santa costumes.
Did I say they weren't real world symbols?
I said they weren't real world religious symbols.
What you are asking for is, in fact, far more founded in real world religion than any symbol found in Winter Veil.

Read the lore, if you're interested in why Winter Veil is the way it is.
As I recall, the legend of Greatfather Winter was originally one of a supernatural being with a billowing white cloak. He would walk the lands of Azeroth in the late seasons, and his cloak would bring winter in his wake. The Dwarves believe him to have been a Titan. The Feast is a celebration of the renewal of the land as it sleeps, enjoying the bounty of the year. The trees represent that not all of nature sleeps, and green endures and will return.
Of course, as time has passed, the civilizations (Tauren being the most resistant to the change) have focused less on the superstition and true "reason" for the season, and more on the feasting, gift-giving, and commercialization the holiday has brought with it. Sounds familiar, hm? It's that commercialization of the time more than any one religion which is being represented and parodied. ;)
