Please.. could you randomize where the black lotus spawns? If it is in regions V through Z.. make it spawn in a random spot in those regions. I *used* to be able to find them. I had 12 saved up over a bit of time, to make flasks. Since you have removed the BoE, I have found NONE! Nary a one. Basically you just gave farmers another resource to sell, and they are doing just that. They flipping LIVE in the areas where you spawn this herb. When I used to just compete with other alchemists for it, I'd sometimes find it in its spawn area, sometimes not. Which was fine, I thought it was balanced.
On my server (an older established one), I can no longer find them. I go to the spots where I used to find them, they are simply never there. And thanks to this brilliant decision, it's now a serious pain to find dreamfoil either, in Azshara and other regions. I guess farmers have taken up herb gathering as a profitable profession now. Woot. :(

Having two 300 Alchemists on separate realms (Horde and Alliance), I have plenty of experience in searching for the Black Lotus both before and after the bind on pick-up attribute was removed. As close as my mind is capable of estimating without having time-logged each find over the last several months, the frequency at which I'm acquiring this herb is roughly the same. The only difference now is, if I'm desperate, I can and will spend the four or five gold on the Auction House to purchase one. This item is intended to be a rare drop, and if players wish to farm them, it's their right.
It's doubtful that you're going to see this farmed strictly for the sole purpose of generating profit considering it's spawn location/rate combined with the average sell value. Most seeking profit know far more efficient ways to obtain gold.

Q u o t e: Get your head out of the sand. I'm not even a gold farmer, nor farm regurlarly, but I know that to generate the highest profit the two best professions to choose would be mining AND herbalism. What? You think the professionals choose blacksmithing or engineering as their other profession?
I'm referring specifically to farming Black Lotus, not farming herbs in general.
Subject and object...subject and object.

Q u o t e: riiiight no rare or needed ingrediants are sold on the for a profit....nooo I expect small eggs normally go for 10G a stack? Or I keep my warrior in blues by farming and selling swift potion ingrediants...naw couldn't be.
No one ever picks 2 gathering professions just to make gold....riiight.
