Subject: A Question about Cliff-Walking Removal
In another thread, Caydiem said this:

Q u o t e:

This change is meant to stop the exploiting occurring in Battlegrounds and in world PvP (such as getting atop Orgrimmar and sniping) while using the cliff-walking "skill".

Fair enough. My question is this: is there some reason THOSE areas can't be changed, and the rest of the world can remain the same, 'explorable'?

This has a very strong undercurrent of "throwing out the baby with the bathwater". Due to a few exploits in Battlegrounds and other areas, you're removing any form of skilled exploration in the ENTIRE game world.

I know that you are capable of using invisible models / blocks, to keep people from accessing specific areas. Look at the AH. Look at the raised platforms that the auctioneers are on.

You can jump on the torches, and try to jump onto the platform. What happens? You hit an invisible box, which rises off of the platform.

Why not do THAT to Orgrimmar and the BGs, as opposed to scrapping the whole cliff-walking thing?

Sorry, this just seems like a heavy-handed alteration.

I've stated this several times, but for your benefit...

There will always be somewhere else these individuals exploit with cliffwalking, even if we remove the "hotspots". Unless the world designers want to make mountains entirely vertical, which looks horrible, there's a good chance there would be the same issues in the expansion. It'd be like playing Whack-a-Mole.

Even the "invisible" walls would have to be put over practically everything in time due to the nature of this problem.

Since cliff-walking was never intended to be in place at the outset, and it's causing serious problems in many locations, we came to the conclusion that the harm outweighed the benefits and fixed it completely.

I'm sorry, but this isn't up for debate at this point; it's being removed entirely.

So much for being able to visit the tomb of the warrior near X-roads. Lets honor his memory by making the spot totally unreachable!

You can get up there without cliff-walking. I have several times. :)
