The concept of a role-playing game is choices... Like deciding about spending money on the cool sword, or the nice chest-piece.
Cliff-walking gives us freedom. It allows us to explore this beautiful world you have created, and take a break from the grind of leveling.
Balancing will never be perfect, and the game will always have flaws... but it's fun, because of the freedom it provides.
Personally, if cliff-walking is removed as planned, I will cancel my World of Warcraft account. It will truly be a sad day if it comes to this, but messing with our freedom, and in turn one of the best aspects of the game, is not acceptable.

I'm sorry Necrofury, but it won't be kept.
I understand that there are many who use it for perfectly benign purposes, and it's not you whom this change is targeting.
This change is meant to stop the exploiting occurring in Battlegrounds and in world PvP (such as getting atop Orgrimmar and sniping) while using the cliff-walking "skill".
It is an exploit. Many didn't use it to harm others, but some did, and the knowledge of how it's done and how it can be used to gain an advantage over the opponent is spreading by the day. No, we can't just change the geometry over those areas -- there will always be places where this is abused.
It is being removed, as it is a harmful exploit that is becoming increasingly so as time goes on.
I apologize for the loss of what has been a wonderful experience for many. I, too, am an explorer, and I completely understand where your heart lies. If you choose to leave us, I wish you the best of luck in your exploring endeavors elsewhere, and hope you find some truly breathtaking vistas.
It is a difficult decision to make, but in the end, we do have to preserve the integrity of the game as a whole.
Good journeys, pathfinder; I hope, should you choose to wander abroad, your path one day leads back to us. :)
Good daycycle, Citizen!
The Computer is your friend.
