Subject: Judgement a joke. Plate Robes??
sooo. currently the best looking cloth armor set can be found on paladins. when i saw the concept art for what is now the Judgement set i was praying it would be the mage set.
Turns out somehow palys found a way to outdress mages and priests but still wear the highest armor class in the game.

Regardless of whether or not its acurate "historically" the simple fact remains that PLATE doesnt come in ROBES. or shouldnt if there is any level of "realism" to be had.

I don't know about you, but when I get dressed in the morning, I don't decide to put on underwear OR pants. I put on both. One is underneath the other.

Couldn't it stand to reason, then, that the robe is in fact covering the platemail greaves underneath? ;)

As an example...

He's clearly wearing a chainmail shirt under this. Can you see the chestpiece? No. Does that mean it doesn't exist? No. http://www.armory.net/CU/CU_100158.jpg

Q u o t e:
Chainmail is a bit lighter than plate (understatement). Not only would large amounts of cloth be extremely hot, but would limit a plate wearers movement and weigh him down even more than 50+ pounds of metal would already.

Are we arguing practicality? :D

Are you explaining to me that the cloth on a set of armor would be too heavy, but the HUMUNGOUS metal shoulders would be okay? Are you arguing weight in a game that has huge, hulking Tauren riding bats that are far too small for them?

I'm just checking. ;)

Q u o t e:
No we are arguing for a tiny amount of realism in the game, and there is nothing wrong in mixing realism with fantasy.

My point is this.

This game features:

Humungous, presumably heavy shoulderpads
Spikes that would most likely impale the most careful of wearers
Open midriffs at every turn
Chaps and woolies for everyday use

...and you're arguing that the cloth would be too heavy? :D All I'm pointing out here is that the entire game is artistically designed that way, and as such your position is rather moot.

Q u o t e:
Yeah and someone can just pull a screenshot of some buddhist monk in a robe, that obviously isn't wearing plate underneath it. The Paladin Tier 2 looks EXACTLY like a mage Tier 2. Like a ROBE. Not a robe OVER plate.

There are two leg models in the game, Kiwipuma. Two.

1) Legs.

2) Skirt.

That's it.

We're not making a third at this point as those two have been the basis for all animations.

So no, you're not going to see the plate underneath the robe. No matter what you choose to believe due to the visuals, it's there.

come on Cay. argue the real issue here.
nitpicking one post and ignoring the others with valid points is beneath you.

I've already pointed out why it looks "exactly like other robes". No reason to repeat myself.

It's not being changed to legs. It's a robe over plate legs. That's simply how it is. You can choose to disbelieve all you please, but it won't make the armor change itself.

Q u o t e:
Yeah and that is called taking realism and adding a bit fantasy on top of it. You start with a realistc source, a knight wearing plate armor, and then you add ridiculous fanciful spikes protruding from it or whatever. Fine.

So do the same thing with paladin. Take plate armor and add a robe over it. Like in your picture. Instead what you've done is completely replace plate armor with robe. Y

See my statement on geometry afterward.

The design of Warcraft is very over the top -- the geometry we use for legs, however, is rather limited. So that's what you get. End of story. :P
