If you are selected to be an MVP do you keep your status for ever and for always? Or is it only for a set amount of time?

There's no set term. The rule of thumb is "You remain an MVP as long as you maintain the behavior that brought you to the position in the first place". I can pull the plug on anyone at any time.
I don't think that will be necessary, though. ;)

The way I understand it is the MVP's are selected because they generally pay a lot of attention to whats going on, post constructively, and while not offically blizzard sponsers are usually right when they post in response to a topic.
So while the rest of us can't take their word as absolute truth, there is good reason to believe them.
